What's it matter, the country's going down the tubes anyway so we may as well be buzzed while it happens.

Tax it big time (and regulate it). They use it anyway. Just another controlled substance. The money can help get us out of debt.

Marijuana is far less dangerous than cigarettes or alcohol, and is only outlawed today because of lobbying by the tabacco, cigarette, and perhaps surprisingly, cotton industries. Legalization would also provide a method for the drug to be taxed, providing money to a struggling economy, and regulated, making sure that people's safe marijuana is not being laced with drugs that are actually dangerous.

Misconception like so many others that needs to end, people check your facts! Besides being less dangerous than alcohol.. it would provide paper, rope, textiles, building materials, food, medicine, paint, detergent, varnish, oil, ink, and fuel.. and now lower TAXES too;)

This sounds like a good idea, AND,...We already know that the government would tax the hell out of it, BUT,...We, as tax-paying citizens, also know how our government handles our tax dollars! Do you honestly believe that our politicians who are in charge of handling this tax money, whether democrats, republicans, or both,...would actually be honest enough to use it to help us get out of debt????? Please wake up & smell the coffee!!! That money will be slipped into their retirement fund! We'll still be broke, & they'll be sunbathing in the Bahamas with their personnal secretary, while their ex-wife will be shopping with their unlimited chargecard in New York. And all at the expense of the middle & lower class taxpaying citizens.
Mind you,...I think it's a good idea, BUT,...My schepticism prevents me from believing it would work. My many years of watching this country go down the toilet with no way of preventing it other than my sole vote, makes me terribly untrusting of ANY politician.

Too much wasted money for a harmless herb that can be taxed.

i am in the medical field- nusing, my aunt recently died of cancer (runs in the family) & i've worked in hospice; research has proven that marijuana reverses the side affects of chemotherapy (ie.: little to no hair loss, appetite improves, loss of pain without impairment). the legalization for medicinal purposes would benefit our community by creating jobs (ie.: farms, packaging, etc.) and would allow a medicine that is a proven non-addictive "drug" (unlike other medicines used in hospice/healthcare: morphine, prozac, ridalin, vikadin, zanex etc.) and marijuana also does not have the hazardous or dangerous side effects of most "drugs" perscribed.

please remember, if you are against drugs: insuline is a drug! epinephrine is a drug! morphine is a drug! if you have diabetes, are allergic to bee stings, or if you EVER need surgery... if you don't take your "drugs" you will die. please, everyone do more research before commenting, because this is actually a very serious matter. marijuana is needed for people recieving chemotheray treatment. it reverses hair loss & nausea created by the chemo. if you need chemo treatment and would like to try marijuana while being treated, our neighbor MI is a green state.

It would create 1000's of jobs as well as pay city county and state taxes, it is no different than alchol in fact when people smoke they just want to stay home, hence no accidents caused by being high. It could pay off the national debt it taxed right.

because it would be less people in jail to feed because of a natural grown herb. Also I feel that if it was legal they could have some kind of dr note or what have you so thta they know they can't operate or what ever on it to make it a bit safer.
