It's less lethal than acohol and despite what people say yo can't really get addicted to it. Your more likely to get addicted to cigarettes.

It's not a gateway drug. Ur more likely to be addicted to cigarettes and booze before your addicted to weed.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons weed is not currently legalized here. I don't have a single doubt in my mind that politicians look at the matter with a view of "Oh, so many New Yorkers are unemployed, so they must be dumb. Let's not give them legal rights for recreational drugs- that way, they won't turn into lazy bastards. Even better, this way they couldn't possibly move on to harder drugs to get their high!" After all, no leader would want a herd of followers with a majority of them hopped up on cocaine.
Oh morals.

Marijuana is a lot less hazardous to one's health than most like to believe. It is helpful in many different forms but in this case we are talking about personal smoking use. Many like to believe and many are forced to teach that it is a gateway drug and will eventually lead to other illegal drug use. Speaking from experience, this is not a true statement. Nothing leads to other illegal drugs other than one's curiosity to experiment. Legalizing marijuana will bring in more money for towns, counties, states and the country as a hole. This is the time for it, our nation needs a pick-me-up and legalizing marijuana just might be the way to do it. Of course there will be guidelines, but I say we really push for this. Maybe we could start by legalizing for medicinal use and then go from there...

Legalizing marijuana would most definite suppor our economy. Look at all the money our nation and other nations make from alcohol. Marijuana will surpass the market revenue and most likely be a commodity with the same if not a bit lower market value as oil. Even though I must agree that there should be limitations and enforced rules that come along with this. Personally I've been to Amsterdam and did not partake in marijuana but I saw that they had lower crime rates and their laws were enforced! Concening the argument that marijuana is a gateway drug I must agree with LReed that it's the individuals curiosity that leads to other drugs and that's the only way to explain it. Only side effect of smokin marijuana is forgetting where you left your car keys.

marijuana is much less dangerous than alcohol or any other drug to our bodies as well as our effect on other people when under the influence. it's natural and has so many different uses. it's the miracle cure for life.

Marijuana is illegal, so why even talk about something that you can't do? Is it that hard to just follow the laws enacted by the people you voted for? Just because more people view marijuana in a positive light, does not make it legal. Same thing to be said about gay marriage. Just because more people accept it does not make it right.
