Absolutely. The expenses involved in arresting, prosecuting and jailing marijuana smokers are extraordinary and unnecessary. Let them smoke as much as they want. Just donít drive under the influence and donít do it around or with minors. The same rules that apply to alcohol currently. Prohibition did not work and neither does the laws against marijuana.

Heck we could balance our budgets by taxing sales of marijuana as we do cigarettes and alcohol.

Marijuana should be legalized in all 50 states.

Marijuana should be decriminalzed, the prohibition of the substance has not worked and never will. Trying to maintain the illegal status of the substance is a serious misappropriation of law enforcement resources and my tax dollars. If it we legalized and controlled as the much more dangerous substances alcohol and tobacco it would produce huge revenue for the state.
The state of CO collected 21 million from the taxation of legal marijuana last year and they actually used 9 million of that money to balance the state budget. Virginia needs to get on board and profit from this and stop wasting our resources.
Tell you congressmen and senator to support HB 1443 for the decriminalization of Marijuana.

Some courts in Virginia are already giving mild or no conviction for Marijuana. Prince William county is not harsh. Stafford county will try and give you life in prison for one little bud. It is rediculous. Virginia should decriminalize Marijuana and tax Marijuana instead of automobiles. Marijuana could make virginia more tax money. And the state would be able to control the selling which would decrease the crime that comes from the way Marijuana is bought now.

People here in VA aren't any less special from the people in California. If it's legalized, people wouldn't have to sneak around the law. In my opinion, it's much safer for the state to make rules, and have some control, rather than waste government money on paying law enforcement to crack down on something pointless, people are still going to do it. Also, Cannabis is way less dangerous than alcohol, yet it's still illegal. Look up number of deaths alcohol related vs. cannabis. You will see whats right from wrong.
