Scientists find cannabis compound stops metastasis in aggressive cancers. Now the FDA cant say there is no medicinal value, so there goes the schedule 1 law as soon as someone forces them to take it away. You know they will have to be forced under court order to remove the status. Like it or not, this is a major step towards legalization. (4:4)

We need to get a petition going around to get the proper amount of signatures to get this issue on the ballot in Louisiana for 2014. If anyone has any info, please post it.

This new law isn't going to save our state any money on welfare. Drug testing isn't cheap. However, I am more than thoroughly glad they are doing it. If I have to take a drug test to work, they should have to take a drug test for food stamps. I guarantee you, if I needed them, I would have no problem filling the cup if it meant feeding my children. I've heard people say that it is unconstitutional. I don't buy that. If you are voluntarily asking for help, then in the same turn, you should VOLUNTARILY give something up for it. If I had my way, they would also do local volunteer work for it as well. They would also be regulated like the WIC program. Ie buying healthy foods, and not prefab garbage. I'm not saying people don't deserve, or need help, but it could be managed better. Just throwing my opinion out there.

Perhaps you need to read up on the basis of their argument, then.

Illegal search & seizure.

Although these people are asking for government aid, doing so does not suspend their rights as American citizens. You may not like the fact that some people are on drugs and receiving food stamps, but if there is any violation of their rights as Americans, then there is a problem with any law that forces someone to be piss tested. It has to be implemented in such a way that both solves the problem and protects their rights at the same time. Anything less, and we veer off into a fascist state. Scary to think you are so eager to submit citizens to an invasion like this, not to mention your other not-so-brilliant ideas for "voluntary" retribution.

For someone who is on food stamps and not on drugs, being submitted to something as accusatory as drug testing is demeaning and leaves them feeling as though they are less deserving of rights you and I enjoy. Let's not forget that we are in America and we have pride in this great country because of the rights we have been granted, not a country where our rights are taken away.

Welcome to the Constitution. Welcome to America.

It can be taxed by the government, as well as regulated. Furthermore, it is less harmful than alcohol

I have seen the drug war in Mexico first hand, and let me tell you that the legalization of marijuana is not only good for our economy, but will also stop the senseless killings in Mexico. Don't be stupid. Until you have seen it first hand they you can not truly have an accurate opinion.

Weed is a natural plant. This plant was here before us and will be here after us. How can u control a natural substance? It is wrong for the government to be able to tell people what they can and cannot grow or eat or absorb through there own bodies. Whats next? Air?seems to me that money is the root of all evil. Not pot. Why have alcohol legal but not pot? Everybody and there mommas know that alcohol is a thousand times more dangerous to us than pot. Lets put pot where it belongs. In the garden. If u want to smoke u gotta grow it yourself.
