Think of the money the citizens of this country would save releasing everyone that was a marijuana offender under today's laws. Then tax marijuana as its sold.

Comment from non-drug user... Not everyone uses marijuana but for those that do, it will benefit our country with the tax that is received from it. I have never heard of a marijuana overdose. I think that if it legalized that there are restrictions to that. Such as being 21+, don't drive or operate dangerous machinery, under age use, ect. If caught you will be arrested.

Thanks to the brain-cell-frying-power of marijuanna, my brother is now in lauriette psychiatric hospital. His continual use of marijuanna in an attempt to self medicate for ADD/ADHD has now resulted in complicated anxiety disorder, diagnosis of bipoliar disorder, and even worse ADD/ADHD symptoms.

For those of you who think marijuanna is "perfectly safe", I would advise you to educate yourself on the neurotransmitters, neurological pathways, dopaminergic effects, and other medical issues related to the use and abuse of marijuanna. Until then, it is illogical to make statements that you agree with the drug becoming legal and/or that it does not harm anyone.

In layman's terms, the use of marijuanna alters the brain's ability to function properly. This alteration is slow at first and typically is not detected by the user. Over time, the person's ability to reason, memory capabilities, sharpness of thought, focus, etc. are diminished. These changes are most often noticed by people around the user, especially those individuals who don't interact with the person on a daily basis and can tell a difference. The user, however, rarely notices anything different about themselves and often make claims that they feel "just fine."

This comment is not intended to offend or cut down anyone. Certainly there are those people who do benefit from its use. But for those people, legalizing its use outside of a doctor's prescription would not be necessary. Please read up about how marijuanna affects the vast majority of the population before making your own judgments on the legalization of the drug.

To call what God created evil and criminal is a slap in the face to God. There is definitely a huge difference between use and abuse. Marijuana can definitely be abused and I've seen it first hand: burnt up in the brain, unmotivated, etc. but it's very rare compared to the countless abusers of alcohol. I don't think alcohol is bad either, just abused by many.

Creating criminals out of otherwise law-abiding citizens only burdens them and their families financially. The majority of marijuana users are hard working responsible citizens with families who use it at the end of the day to wind down and relax.

Although the law of the land at the moment makes Marijuana possession and cultivation illegal, some things for law-enforcement and other people who believe that marijuana is bad to think about is 1) criminalizing it creates an unhealthy fear and contempt against law enforcement. The police should be the people that we can trust to protect us from REAL criminals (thieves, rapists, murderers, etc.). 2) We will all go before God on Judgement Day and be held accountable for everything you have done. If you are a police officer and arrested someone because of Marijuana, or a judge or district attorney who brought financial hardship on a family because members used it, or just someone who hates on what they fear and do not understand, YOU will have to deal with God for all the emotional stress and other burdens you brought against HIS people and the thing that HE created for us.

It is not for everyone. It is there for those who DO want it. It is not to be abused. And it should be eaten, not smoked. Smoking is harmful to the lungs, and I don't think he intended for us to harm our lungs.

God created Many things.. good and bad.. he also created free will and judgment for us to make decisions. Then to be later faced with a judgment on them.. Just because he created something does not mean it is was meant for our benefit.. Remember Eve and the apple and the serpent? We are told by God to stay away from certain things in this world.. it is up to us to listen and obey him. To simply say.."oh it is naturally grown and given naturally by God" is a cop out and a justification to do what you want to do.. so.. do it.. You will be the one to reap the consequences..but when you do.. please Dear I want to smoke my pot.. do not come asking the state or government for money for your psych meds or money to live on when you can no longer function in the society GOD gave you the ability to function in.

1.- If you truly believe it should be up to man to face the consequences of their actions to God, then how do you justify the government controlling the people's free will?

2.- The prohibition on marijuana causes more wrong than it causes good. People who are willing to do wrong in order to gain money are being benefited by this prohibition and the ridiculous inflated prices it gives to a simple plant.

3.- Marijuana does not impair the mind on the long run.
My basis to say this is the Kaiser Permanente studies of 1997, which were conducted for over 10 years with over 65,000 men and women, all who could function normally in society after consuming marijuana for long periods of time and suffered no ill effects afterwards.

You have a very high opinion of a certain person today, believing that they can do no wrong. But how realistic are you being? It looks as though you're viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, which is fine if it's only a temporary state but quite another matter if you're deliberately ignoring problems and pretending that they don't exist.
