There are far worse problems than this.

This is just a diversion from the real issues, yet, in itself, helps compound them.

Are you going to China to buy it? Keep smoking. Maybe you could wear clothes made from hemp.

Most of you idiots don't know this but marijuana is the most perfect and nutritionally balanced FOOD in existance and could cure the world hunger problem if it wasn't for the pot smoking politicians that want to keep it illegal.

Alyssa, it appears that you were under the influence of something prior to writing your comment. Thats why its called D.U.I (Driving Under the Influence) it dosent just cover alcohol. Anything that impairs you, drugs, alcohol cold medication ect! WOW
I agree with most that it's not going away and therefore should be legalized, taxed and regulated. However, driving impaired by alcohol is a quick guilty or not by the standard breathalyzer but marijuana would be a much more difficult task to prove. THC can and does remain in the system for varying amounts of time depending on the individual. Until there is a definitive means of detecting the timeframe in which it was consumed it should remain illegal.

I just don't see Duncan Hines putting MJ in their brownie mix any time in the future. Good thought but take another hit!

If an officer at an accident scene thinks you are blitzed, they can order you taken in for a lab test to see if you are under the influence. At the present there are no 100% accurate field tests so it would have to be in a lab. If you test positive, you can be charged with contributary neglegence even though the other the other guy caused the accident. It's like drinking. Have a designated driver or stay home. It's not worth the trouble it causes you down the road having a high risk record when you try to get insurance or buy a car.

Like I said. Illegal period until there is a way. People shouldn't drive under the influence of anything. But LEOs make mistakes like all humans do. After having my license for six months I was allowed to drive at night. I had my brother, his friend and my best friend with me. It was her vehicle and she had gotten a migraine so I was driving us home. Only driven at night once or twice prior. We were doing nothing wrong at all. I was pulled over for "Driving too cautiously" he said. Therefore I had to be doing something illegal because nobody drives like that unless they're trying to hide something. After being detained for 20 mins or so, thorough search of all passengers and vehicle he placed me in handcuffs and locked me in his patrol car for another 30 or so mins while I of course was in tears. He mistook my 15 yr old self who was new to night driving, first time ever pulled over and terrified because he threatened me with dui for being "high". After almost an hr of begging to call my mom I finally asked to speak with his supervisor. Amazingly enough he let us go then. He realized at that point I wasn't "High" just scared. Officers shouldn't be allowed to just take you in because they say you look impaired. They also should not throw you in detox without some kind of test that proves you're actually impaired. A urinalysis at the station or a breathalyzer on spot if they are claiming you're drunk off your a$$. But no, they don't have to have any proof at all to detain you for 8 hrs on their own word just because had a bad day or whatever. Yep. A few yrs ago that happened to me. Walked in on my spouse cheating and tried to take my kids to a hotel for the night. Spouse called the police, slashed all four of the tires while I tried to back out. And because spouse's parent was a LEO and knew that cop I went in to detox for public drunkenness in my own yard. Refused to check my BAL to prove I was in fact sober. I could see taking me I'm for a ua if they thought it wasn't alcohol but claiming alcohol and not allowing a simple alcohol test is giving them too much power without having to provide burden of proof. Every substance has no place in a vehicle. But what happened to innocent until proven guilty? Detain all who fail UAs and breathalyzers. But please give one the chance to prove innocence.

There are a lot of good points being made here by both those for and against. Must you others continuously bash each other for not having the same opinion as yourself? This is a discussion of varying opinions. You don't have to like someone's opinion but you shouldn't expect yours to be respected if you can't respect theirs.

Your story has holes in it. Your 15 year old self? You had a license or a learner's permit to drive? A permit doesn't say you can drive with friends,it allows you to drive with a parent. Looks like you brought on your own problems unless there is: "the rest of the story".

That was 23 yrs ago and you could drive with any licensed adult over 18 then. You could also drink at 18 too. Laws change.

EXACTLY........laws change. At one time in American history it was illegal to be black, woman did not have the right to vote, and people were burned alive at the stake for being accused of witchcraft. It amazes me how some people can't comprehend how outdated the marijuana law is. Its time for a change.

Progress is being made for PRESCRIBED MEDICAL USE ONLY for pain relief from chemo and radiation. As far as open use anytime anywhere, it will be a long time coming unless the government drops all laws covering workers insurance coverage if hurt on a jobsite. There is NO 100% test at the present to determine when you smoked so the laws for a zero tolerance workplace will have to stay in place until such a test is developed. To those who insist on smokin' MJ ,don't apply at a place that you run a chance of getting caught. It will follow you forever on your work history.

Am I the only one that finds it very interesting that the Bible says "And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land" (Ezekiel 34/29) AND that the latin word for the marijuana plant "cannabis sativa" literally means "most perfect food"?

Every 3.6 seconds someone in the world dies of hunger. Hemp seeds are the most nutritious and economical solution to end world hunger. With an 80 percent concentration of "good fats" our bodies need for good health maintenance and protein with all eight amino acids plus optimum dietary fiber, hemp truly is a "perfect balance" food source.

Pot is NOT harmful to the human body or mind. Marijuana does NOT pose a threat to the general public. But.... marijuana is very much a danger to the oil companies, alcohol, tobacco industries and a large number of chemical corporations. Various big businesses, with plenty of dollars and influence, have suppressed the truth from the people.

Am I the only one who believes…POT IS ILLEGAL BECAUSE BILLIONAIRES WANT TO REMAIN BILLIONAIRES!

Shelled marijuana seeds, ready to eat, can be bought from http://healing-source.com/
