"Mo money taxes" for Mobama, maybe easier for those who need it for pain and maybe less border wars.

I watched a family member die a slow painful death, when there was something they could have used to help them ease the pain and make them feel better, but couldn't because it was illegal. You can smoke and drink with no problem, but when the smoking and drinking make you sick, you are denied a drug that can and will help you, because "they" say it's not good for you. These laws need to be changed!!!!!!!!!

marijuana is still an additive drug with
many health problems. It also is a gateway
drug to other drugs.

I never really cared for it,but it does have medicinal purposes, but the government hasnt figured a way to tax it yet and are you driving under the influence if it stays in your system for a week.. Pot has been proven not to have addictive properties like a cigerette but more of a psycological addiction.

I woundnt say its a gateway drug when you can make anything in your house out of meth a lot cheaper

The topic is too broad. There is a difference in legalizing mj for medical purposes and legalizing it for recreational purposes. I have seen what mj does to people. No matter what anyone says (and it is usually those that smoke heavily that refute this) the drug takes away all ambition and desire to accomplish anything. I have seen A students completely change and no longer care about academics in just a few months of smoking pot.

Something like 37 years ago I tried it once and didn't really think it was for me. Now, after two unsuccessful lower back operations and Lortab 10 everyday, you bet I'm willing to give it another try.

more mental health benifits to smoking pot than realized by people who are too opinionated to even try it. especially the ones who "don't have a problem"

Why not legalize..if it were legal crime would go down and the government can profit off of it...

Mrijuana is not a gateway drug. Stop living in the past.

Myth: Marijuana is a Gateway Drug. Even if marijuana itself causes minimal harm, it is a dangerous substance because it leads to the use of "harder drugs" like heroin, LSD, and cocaine.

Fact: Marijuana does not cause people to use hard drugs. What the gateway theory presents as a causal explanation is a statistic association between common and uncommon drugs, an association that changes over time as different drugs increase and decrease in prevalence. Marijuana is the most popular illegal drug in the United States today. Therefore, people who have used less popular drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and LSD, are likely to have also used marijuana. Most marijuana users never use any other illegal drug. Indeed, for the large majority of people, marijuana is a terminus rather than a gateway drug.

Marijuana is also not addictive.

Myth: Marijuana is Highly Addictive. Long term marijuana users experience physical dependence and withdrawal, and often need professional drug treatment to break their marijuana habits.

Fact: Most people who smoke marijuana smoke it only occasionally. A small minority of Americans - less than 1 percent - smoke marijuana on a daily basis. An even smaller minority develop a dependence on marijuana. Some people who smoke marijuana heavily and frequently stop without difficulty. Others seek help from drug treatment professionals. Marijuana does not cause physical dependence. If people experience withdrawal symptoms at all, they are remarkably mild.

Many times, people only choose rehab after being arrested, most often for simple possession, then having a judge offer them an ultimatum - 1)Go to jail/prison or 2)Go to rehab. Which would you choose?

Really?

Myth: Marijuana Causes an Amotivational Syndrome. Marijuana makes users passive, apathetic, and uninterested in the future. Students who use marijuana become underachievers and workers who use marijuana become unproductive.

Fact: For twenty-five years, researchers have searched for a marijuana-induced amotivational syndrome and have failed to find it. People who are intoxicated constantly, regardless of the drug, are unlikely to be productive members of society. There is nothing about marijuana specifically that causes people to lose their drive and ambition. In laboratory studies, subjects given high doses of marijuana for several days or even several weeks exhibit no decrease in work motivation or productivity. Among working adults, marijuana users tend to earn higher wages than non-users. College students who use marijuana have the same grades as nonusers. Among high school students, heavy use is associated with school failure, but school failure usually comes first.

It's funny how everyone who believes in prohibition will just jump on here and throw out what they've been told, but the pro-marijuana people are the only ones who will actually do research and post links to factual information to prove their point - but marijuana makes you lazy. Yeah, right!

MJ is not addictive...it DOES however act as an anti-anxiety. Someone who suffers from anxiety feels as if they are going to have a heart attack- when it gets at it's worst!

If you are the addictive type of person, then even chocolate or cola can be addictive...so should me make those illegal?
