There are dummies out there that really think that legalization of MJ for prescribed medical use will also give the green light for the stoners and dopers to use anytime/antwhere. Far from the truth! If anything, regulation will raise penalties to a federal level and taxation will double or triple the price. Other than legalization for chemo and radiation use, what can be gained? Unless the AMA backs the medical use, your insurance company could declare MJ use as "expermental medicine" and as you know if you read your policy, many companies don't cover that treatment and you are left without coverage.

Whichever way the public decides is fine with me, but MEDICAL CANNABIS needs legalized NOW. The government's medical patents are proof that cannabis can help these people. Postponing or delaying the legalization of medical cannabis should be a crime in itself, and it's a shame that our politicians aren't trying to help them! There is no good reason whatsoever for not helping the patients that suffer, because it can ease the pain of patients that suffer every day of the year with no relief. These patients could have a much better quality of life if their doctor was making this choice rather than the politicians. Oklahoma politicians have been sweeping this issue under the rug for years, and this is a real shame! Senator Connie Johnson has been trying to get medical cannabis issue heard in the senate for 6 years now, and it keeps getting avoided, delayed or postponed, and the patients who suffer pay the price and go on suffering. All this, and the latest poll by Fox 23 in Tulsa show that 81% of Oklahomans feel the same way and want medical cannabis legalized. Come on legislators, get busy and help these people!!!

Go back and read post #2064. The stoners wanting anytime/ anywhere legalization are killing the efforts to get prescribed medical use only legalized.

I agree the stoners are not helping the medical cannabis situation, but that's no excuse for legislators to not help the real patients that could have a less painful rest of their life with cannabis. It's not the sick's fault, and they should not be paying the price by being denied this help. All legislators should step up and help these people by passing medical cannabis. It would really be great to have politicians worry more about the public than their own hide. MDs should control it instead of politicians. If a particular MD can't write scripts propertly, than deal with that MD. If Oklahoma is not ready to end prohibition, I'm fine with that too. It's just that there is no good excuse to deny the MDs from writing scripts to those with cancer and other debilitating diseases, and our politicians should be ashamed for not stepping up and helping to pass medical cannabis for them.

Then the red tape begins. To have prescribed medical grade MJ, the government will have to step in and regulate the THC levels in the product. You can't have one dispenser selling schwag ditch weed and another selling the cronic killer weed. Then the growers will have to be government regulated to account for every ounce grown and where it was shipped to just like liquor. Then adding taxes will run the price up and possessing untaxed MJ will be a crime just like moonshine whisky bringing time in a Federal prison instead of a local jail. Legalization is not as easy as it seems.

you are wrong. the government's refusal to take it off as a schedule I drug (no medical value) has killed the efforts for it to be prescribed medically. Speak the truth , not make assumptions!

Wrong!! It's the stoners and dopeheads that have the public convinced that legalizing will be for anytime/anywhere use and not just for prescribed medical use. The lawmakers listen to their constituents and take their fears about streets full of pot smoking thugs to heart. If the medical use only is ever going to pass, the at/aw toads need to S.T.F.U. and go away until medical use passes!

Our greedy conservative politicians are what's keeping medical cannabis from being legalized in Oklahoma. Proof being that Senator Johnson has submitted bills for six years, and the committe chairman never recognizes it. She has submitted it again this year for an Interim Study, and Senator Crain appears to be avoiding it again, which will put it back another year unless he sets a date before the December 1st deadline. The Interim Study has doctors, scientists, researchers, professors, revenue experts, caregivers and even patients ready to fly to Oklahoma to participate in the Study. The latest Oklahoma polls reflect that 81% of Oklahomans are ready to legalize medical cannabis in order to help those that could have a better life. We just have to wait and see if Senator Crain will give it a hearing. If not, Oklahomans will be denied another opportunity to make that choice. We are not exactly as free as you would think, because one man is holding up the choice that hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans should be making. I guess we shall see. . . .

It is a proven fact that cannabis is medicine. I would tell everyone to research US Patent # 6,630,507 if you don't believe it. Not one person has died from the use of cannabis ever, yet tobacco & alcohol kills hundreds in this country every day
