cost of the drug war, no results...we lock too many people up and that cost is borne by society

The country spends billions of dollars every year and doesn't put a dent in the flow. Legalize it and tax the hell out of it.

Too much money spent on a war that has produced zero results. More people locked up for possession of small quantities of weed that for more violent crimes.

Good post Cat. The country spends billions of dollars every year for enforcement, and it doesn't make a dent in the flow. Legalize it and tax the hell out of it.

For lack of a better plan...It worked for prohibition, and it restricted, relativly quickly, the flow of money to the hundreds of GANGS that operated in Chicago during that era. Not an ideal solution, but we've seen it work. A sunset could be considered to the legality law. Any better ideas I'm all ears.

Isn't there a saying about those who fail to follow history? The parallels between the current drug war and what happened during prohibition are incredibly similar. If you legalize and tax the crap out of certain drugs, you immediately put a huge section of the dealer network out of business.

Why is it so hard for our 'leaders' to see?

Daily Horoscope for February 5

Taurus

You may need to take a break from certain people or circumstances today; this could be a short term decision for some Bulls while for others there may be long term consequences. If you find yourself at odds with either individuals or groups, ask yourself where you really stand over attitudes and values. Is there a growing rift or just intermediate tension you can ride out? If you remain calm it will be easier to make decisions.
