it could only improve the economy, fast food sales will hit the roof, rolling paper company stock will soar, oxygen tank manufacturers "because pot amplifies any breathing problems" will grow, employment will open up because people will eventually lose their jobs for poor performance. So, overall, it will get better for some.It is hard to argue that alcohol is any better or worse, both cause decreased judgement abilities. I do know that nothing I say will change people's opinions and i cant wait to charge people with driving while impaired because of pot. It will increase my "quota" numbers and my bonus' will only get better.....I love sarcasm!!!!!!!

I knew that point would come up......THC is a drug...look it up. It may be a naturally occurring element within the plant but so is opium...next point!!!!! The prrof will come when they make it legal and it is placed on the list that we can give DUIs for...cant wait!!!!! Doesnt have to be a drug for that to happen....lol

Marijuana was never meant to be illegal. It was only illegalized because of the auto and lumber business and you see where that's getting us. Police officers and judges, lawyers and politicians take advantage of the cannabis user; they look for additional charges to charge people with for even small possessions of it... all for a higher paycheck and possibly a promotion. Old school crooks to be honest. Cannabis is a source of healing. In hemp form you can create a multitude of objects; such as lumber, clothing, cleansing products, fuel. A cannabis seed burns 8x longer then a corn seed. When you smoke Marijuana, it's just like anything... it's not for everyone but people enjoy it and don't abuse it, hell you can't really abuse it; too much consumption will just make you pass out just like known over the counter drug/medication would do; except some over the counter drugs could kill you, marijuana wont. 60 pounds of consumption in one sitting is impossible, that's when you would overdose and that's probably not because you were high but because you just stuffed yourself with 60 pounds of weed. It's not for everyone, just like any kind of drug isn't for everyone; it would have a disclaimer on the baggy like "Do not operate vehicles or machinery if you do not know how Marijuana affects you"... I can say more; except it would take a book to convince people how helpful marijuana could be if it were legal. It would only benefit.

Claiming Marijuana as a gateway drug is like claiming sugar leads to coffee; it's all up to the individual to decide, nothing leads you to harder drugs except your own damn self... take marijuana out of a drug dealers arsenal and you'll catch the drug dealer selling those harder drugs instead. It's logic, maybe if you'd all smoke a little ganja before you start ranting you would be on the same page as everyone else in America. Scared of dying from lung cancer? USE A VAPORIZER.

Not afraid of what it will do to the people's health that actually think that it is safe, dont really care actually. What I am concerned with is someone that doesnt know when to say when when abusing the drug, driving and hitting me and my family and hurting my child. I would fear my reactions to this person...they may sustain injuries that had nothing to do with the accident. I pray that never happens to anyone but i dont really have to worry, it will never be legal.

It's legal in 14 states and DC, two states have passed laws that, although favorable towards medical marijuana, do not legalize its use. AND Eight States have Pending Legislation or Ballot Measures to Legalize Medical Marijuana(as of July 28, 2010) One of which is North Carolina. PublicDef, it might not happen first go round but it's coming.

I will make sure that my ticket books and pens are up to speed, i am sure i will be writing more DUI tickets in the future if your dream comes true. Making it legal doesnt make it legal to drive after consuming it, thats where the fun will begin. Too slow to run, too out of breath, makes my job that much easier...Thank you potheads of NC.

Stop spouting hate and false rhetoric. I could be right next to you with slits for eyes and there's nothing you could possibly do. I won't be riding dirty, just blistered. Heck I'll even wave.

public, first things first. You'll need a reason to pull me(which I'm not gonna give you). second I'll submit to your breathalyzer and pass, then what are you gonna do? Cuff an stuff me and haul me to the hospital for blood work, for what? Cause I appear tired...thats laffable. How many times do you think they'll let you pull that kind of stunt before they run you off? Oh, lemme shatter a couple of your stereotypes too. I just got off my bicycle after a 25 mile ride. I don't own a video game machine(bet you do). I've never lost a job, I know how to study for "tests". I'm 48 and never had a simple possesion. Served three in the USMC. Smoker since '76. Lastly, look at the national map on the poll that this thread originated from, it's completely green!

To all the people who think that the drug does not imapir judgement and motor skills, you are setting yourself up, much too many studies to prove my point. As far as reasonable suspicion or pretext as we call it, your behavior is all i need, judgement when stopping, following too close, swerving etc...the laws are certainly on our side regarding this. As far as a "breathalyzer", why would i use that to determine your chemical impairment, when there are oher tools for me on the horizon. For them to pass the law, for which i do not care, to make it legal for medical consumption gives the state another toolbox to pull from.Regarding your service in the USMC, semper fi, as i also served four years and I am very proud of that. Since you are targeting me, i will answer your challenges, your 25 mile ride proves what?, that you are a healthy pot smoker?...do you plan on running the next time you are pulled over, otherwise that is of no concern to me.I also do not own a videogame, no time for that, this work thing keeps me a little busy.Proud of your employment record, very commendable, you should be proud of that. No amount of studying will cover these tests that are coming, unless you can a. hold your breathe, b. die and then come back to life after you are encountered by LEO,c. change the entire chemical makeup of your body every 36 hours, thats how long it take the agents of marijuana to exit the body in detectable levels. To all of this , good luck, you may be one of the one's that fly under the radar, there are alot more than you out there. The public poll does nothing to sway my opinion of those who use drugs to escape this "mean old world". Some of us call that actually living, pain and all!!!!!
