I see no difference between marijuana and crack, or heroin, or meth. They are all ILLEGAL DRUGS and they have no place in our society.

You see no difference, that does not mean "there is no difference! Speeding is illegal, killing is illegal, they are not the same by the fact that they are both illegal.

Yea well, you are an idiot because they are not the same, first people have died from all of those other illegal drugs and all of the legal drugs. If you take to many aspirin you will die. NO ONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE HUMAN RACE HAS EVER DIED FROM SMOKING CANIBIS. I will give you a thousand dollars if you can prove me wrong. The only reason it was illegal in the first place was because in the 1930's the timber company was afraid that hemp was going to take control of the paper mills.(look it up) The only reason why today it is considered a class one drug like meth and crack is because former president regan was afraid the hippies would out vote him, so he wanted to put them behind bar because once you are a felon YOU CAN NOT VOTE. PLEASE IDIOT KEEP YOUR DAMN MOUTH SHUT WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT.

You can criticize my opinion all you want, but at least I didn't feel the need to insult anyone. Unfortunately, for some reason, you did. I guess some people can't get their point across without having to result to personal insults.

I thought pot-smokers were supposed to be all cool and mellow....?

First I support the legalization of marijuana, however marijuana became a Schedule 1 drug in 1970, under Nixon. Now during the Reagan Administration the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 created the Sentencing Commission, which established mandatory sentencing guidelines. Also The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 reinstated mandatory prison sentences, including large scale cannabis distribution. Reagan would not have been all that concerned about hippies since he was president in the 80's.

Well I just wanted to make sure you that were aware of how wrong, misinformed, and bias you opinion is!!! It is my own personal opinion that you are a complete idiot when it comes to this topic, and I feel that this is an opinion you need to KEEP TO YOURSELF!!!
I feel insulted when you say that cannabis is the same as meth. This is pure ignorance whether you agree with it or not. How delusional can you be?

Prohibition was proven to be a failure in the 30's. Marijuana is no worse than alcohol and should be treated and taxed the same way.

I think for medical use, yes it should be allowed. Short TRUE story, young boy sees his dad smoking pot, vows never to do it, begs his dad to give it up. Few years pass, boy starts smoking pot, then became a herion addict. So not everyone stops at pot, boy almost dies at least twice, prison, now lives struggling day to day with an addiction. His dads answer years back when he begged his dad to quit was "I'd rather you smoke pot than drink" Had the father set an example and been able to walk away from his own pot addiction this boy would most likely had a good life.
I think if you want to do it at home and have no kids around and fry your brain, I have no problem with it, it's your life. But just like drinking if your going to go out you put people at risk and if there are kids involved don't be so selfish and blind thinking it doesn't affect the ones around you. My heart breaks for this young man when I do see him because a once sweet young man, is now broken. very sad.

Because parents don't care to take the time to educate their kids and it will be abused by them.

The whole "gate way drug" theory is false, and if anything, it helps ague for legalization. Yes less then 1% of marijuana users use other heavier drugs, but it not for the reasons you believe. Has it ever occurred to you that it is the dealers who are the "gate way" drug. This week minded person may have just buckled and said sure I'll try it. Where do they get this heroin from? from the same guy he gets his herb from. One day when marijuana is legal and you go into the gas station to pick up a pack of joints is the clerk going to ask; Have you tried this before? and throw some black tar out on the counter. With your logic I could state that alcohol was a gate way to prostitution, during the probation of alcohol. It was in the speakeasies where you got your beer from, was where you also found all of the prostitutes. My father was the first person I ever smoked cannabis with and he informed me of all the "dangers." The biggest danger I face is getting thrown in jail for possession of the drug that has never killed anyone.

Non Profit, I see your point. I'm just stating this kid did not stop at pot and it happens. Logical or not, when you see someone you care about screw their life up because of their dead beat father it affects you. I was never brought up around it but I totally agree that if a person wants to do it in their own home and it doesn't affect other people more power to them. I also think medically it definately should be approved. Your father was different than this boys father, this boy - his father was high 60% of the time so being educated was not in the cards. I think the laws need to target the dealers and the heavy drugs or drunk driving. The legal penalty for pot I think is overkill.

I am sorry but you are wrong about my parents, my dad smokes cannabis on a daily basis and was the first person I smoked with. He was the one who educated me of the dangers of drugs and how to be a responsible cannabis user. My mother never learned how to be responsible she has been and out of prisons and half way houses my entire life. I can definitely find common ground with people with dead beat parents who are drug abusers. Yes the law needs to target the dealers and not simple possession charges.

marijuana should be made legal and regulated like alcohol. We need sensible drug laws!

Show me one other so called drug that you plant and grow and pick and smoke. You can't!! Weed is illegal cuz politicians are supported financially by the pharmaceutical companies! they support who pays!

It's silly to make a plant illegal. Alcohol is more dangerous than Marijuana. The only reason why Alcohol is legal is too many people would bitch, but no one really knows about Marijuana until you try it. There are too many anti Marijuana propaganda that brainwash peoples minds to thinking it is a "drug". Robitussin is worse for you and you can easily obtain it. Just think about it.

You really cant judge Marijuana until you have tried it. I used to think it was a drug and stupid and it would get you into bad things. I smoked Marijuana for the first time when i was 18 and it really opened my eyes on the world of Marijuana. Although you say the "gateway drug" is false. It really isnt. It depends on the person really. I wanted to try different drugs because of Marijuana. I realized that was a terrible decision and i dont want to do anything else except smoke Marijuana.

I would vote against legalization of marijuana. Children, especially teenagers are so impressionable, and we don't need to make it easier for them to have access to it.
