Despite the claims that it doesn't harm anybody, it does. Anybody claiming that it doesn't alter the mental state is plain out lying. Marijuana users do all kinds of cruel things and then just smoke the guilt away while their loved ones suffer. They remember everything but the pain they caused because that realization went up in smoke. Legalizing marijuana shouldn't be left up to those who get "high". It should be up to those who have had to deal with the affects of loving somebody who gets "high".

It is NOT a gateway drug. I never see people get violent while using it, alcohol alters people to the point of death both physically and by their drunk actions. People that want pot are going to get it anyway, why not decriminalize it and let farmers and store owners profit from it on a 21 and older basis. Politicians agree with everything I just wrote, they think that they can't let their potential voters know it. NEWS FLASH: the first respectful politician that actively promotes marijuana will get voted in, you watch. The hippies and baby boomers support it and that's about the age of our politicians so it will happen soon.

I believe it will provide much needed tax revenue as well as reduce the demand for harder drugs ie cocaine and heroin

Again, how is it the mandate of government what a person does in their own home which harms nobody but himself?

This is why I love Mansfield, it is full of pot heads.... And yes, if the government would make it legal to sell marijuana, our country could possible once again be debt free.... this by the way is coming from someone who is not high at the current moment.... and hasn't been for a while.... and to the first person who wrote on this post, if the ppl who should vote for marijuana to be legalized should be the ppl who have been affected by it and their families, in that case, I believe we should get to vote for beer to not be sold anymore, because my brother was killed by a drunk driver right there in your town.... but I don't think beer should be either, because it brings in a lot of our national revenue.... So government, just go ahead and legalize it already, it's gonna happen. Why not now?

uh, what's the law? this post is about the potential deciminalization of marijuana. So.... yes, we are aware that it's the law. That's kind of the point of the discussion.

i think legalizing marijauna would help our american debt they could tax it and make a killing on it. weed does not alter ur driving skills or any thing its a safe drug and u dont have to do any thing chemicaly to it and i support the marijauna legalization act 110 percent MAKE IT LEGAL

Why not? The people who smoke it are getting it anyway. All it's doing is taking up jail space that could be used for more serious crimes.

I think if alcohol should be legal so should marijuana, but make an age limit just as there is for alcohol, and make it illegal for someone to drive high just as their is a limit for alcohol....having experienced a high from marijuana, and been drunk off alcohol, I am going to have to say alcohol is way more dangerous, and I would be more likely to do something crazy drunk, than high off of marijuana.
