It would be a great way to bring jobs and cash to much needed cities. Tax the crap out of it, people would have jobs growing it and being caretakers. It's really brainless not to legalize it.

I am for legalizing it for cancer patients. However, it has been proven that it does lead to addiction to harder drugs. Michigan's current law is a joke - intended to help out those in pain, you can get a card from a doctor if you.....wait for this.....have 'tummy aches'. That's pathetic, and it's why those people who voted in favor of the law now see the trouble it is causing; everybody is just getting high, telling the local doctor (who, of course, passes out the card so you will come back to him) anything that will get them the card. It's just the people you always knew who got high too much getting high legally now. The cancer patients, the ones for whom the new law was designed, make up less than 1/2 of 1% of the card holders.

Marijuana is the 22nd most dangerous drug, right behind aspirin! Right now, without further ado, we should tax the medical marijuana by having the dispensaries issue 1099's to growers and then each sale at the dispensary could be taxed and stop the illegal market. When it is realized just what kind of money the medical brings in, overall legalization can thenhappen.

Yes
it appears you are the kid and the one that needs to do a little more research. You say it leads to harder drugs because you are saying it is the gateway drug. It was assumed to be the gateway drug but the latest research shows it is really beer. Overwhelmingly, beer. Based on surveys of questions asked in rehab regarding the first drug taken before moving on to others Cigarettes and beer. Some of the numbers were 70 and 80% of respondents said they drank beer before doing harder drugs and the same numbers for cigarette users that moved on to harder drugs.Medical marijuana is also for the relief of constant pain, hopefully as an alternative to the narcotics used for pain without the loss of sanity or the possibility of addition to your relief.

All the legal prescription drugs available from scientists who arrogantly assume to understand the complex workings of human brains. Prescription drug overdose is a MAJOR problem in this country. Why not legalize a recreational natural drug. As long as it's not doped up and manufactured.

"Marijuana" is a word that I don't use, it was made up to confuse people to vote against hemp.

Because of DuPont inventing nylon, then joined in by the forest/paper interests, they made hemp, a competing fiber, illegal.

Simple as that, follow the money. Nylon is petroleum based. Hemp paper lasts longer, and needs a fourth of the land for the same amount.

It's not a gateway drug, that whole concept is ridiculous. If you are prone to trying drugs, you pretty much try whatever comes around. First it's your parents alcohol anyway, so that would be the 'gateway' drug.

Sorry to hear the story of your brother. Marijuana may have been part of what he smoked but if a true and complete drug test was done within the appropriate time frame I believe you will find PCP or some other hallucinating type drug. Marijuana would never produce this type of reaction by itself.

Its been proven in many medical studies to help/treat certain illnesses. However i live in MI and the law is very very lax, any md can write it for basically anything. I personally dont smoke it but at least ten of my fam members have their card, after one appt. With a doc they will never go to again. All of said family members of course were heavy mj smokers prior to getting their mmc. It needs to regulated a little better i believe.
