I believe alcohol has caused way more problems then Marijuana! I have seen people can irate, crazy, uncontrollable on alcohol! I do not know one person who has smoked pot and went and shot someone cause they were high and pissed!! I have seen that with alcohol! I have known many a people (while I agree it is wrong)that smoke and drive they are more cautious than most drivers period! I have heard of many many diseases caused by tobacco not marijuana, if I had to make a choice to smoke pot, drink, or smoke a cigarette I say pass me the pipe buddy! I would much rather get high and relaxed, than get lung cancer from a cigarette, or cirrhosis from drinking! I think if more people smoked pot, such as these wiry people that like to fight, or someone with anxiety, I think some of the mental and medical benefits of marijuana are awesome! Can you tell me of a benefit of smoking a Marlboro? Benefit of drinking a bottle of Crown to forget your troubles, with the hangover that comes later! Smoke pot be mellow, no hangover and a much healthier choice I believe if pot were legal we would have much less wobbly, stinky breath, drunk driving, fighting people! If pot were legal I would be a daily smoker, relieves stress naturally, calms the nerves, has health benefits....I would be a happier, less anxious individual! Since how I severe anxiety and panic disorder I freak out at the thought of doing it and getting caught! Ahhhhh to live in a world where we all could all be high and free I think it would solve many of societies problems, lessen crime rates, lessen death rates caused by tobacco and alcohol, I know many people who would give up tobacco and alcohol for pot because it would be a better option than the path they are on! Plus pot brings people together no one likes to smoke alone...

Absolutely. More deaths occur every year via alcohol and other drugs than marijuana. I fully support the legalization.

I completely agree in legalization. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have their hands in it though (to name one of the MANY government associated or supported organizations) by saying that smoking marijuana impares reaction time and vision. However, in 2008 there were less than 100 marijuana-related automobile accidents. AND that is only because the victims in the accidents tested positive for pot in their urine and blood tests and negative for alcohol. That DOES NOT indicate that they were under the influence of marijuana ("stoned" to us who smoke) at the time of the accidents. As we know, weed stays in your system for up to 30 or so days.

So, these victims could have consumed up to 30 days prior to the incident.

Seattle did a study in '08 by using 85 test subjects (50 males and 35 females) by giving half of them marijuana (both in smokeable and pill forms) and the other half placebos. Then they let them drive a vehicle down a simulated and controlled road to test the questions like "reaction time", "vision imparement", and "reasoning skills." The first drive was a safe and controlled 5 mile cruise. The second drive was given distractions (car turning into the incorrect lane, dog running in front of the car, changing traffic light, etc.) Those who were high performed at, if not above, the same level as those who were sober. Thus, proving that regardless of them being high, it had no direct effect on their driving capabilities.

The second test was performed on the same 85 participants. Half were high, half were sober. They were given simple and intermediate mathematical and reasoning questions and expected to answer correctly. Once again...no difference. Everyone tested the same.

Thats just one of the many issues we, who support legalization, face against a rather "tyrranical" government. If we can drive high and function fully (via reasoning, problem-solving, work-related, yadda yadda) what is the big hold up???

Of course some argue that they can't tax marijuana. Its a cash crop for God's sake! How exactly can it not be taxed? To me, if the big issue is "functioning" whilst under the influence of marijuana, why not make alcohol illegal? Of course, thats not what I, or well over half of the rest of us want. But there have been more alcohol-related automobile accidents, murders, and tragedies than those caused by smoking weed.

To leave on a funny note, cause I have a flare for comedy :). We don't kill over weed. We don't drive wildly on weed. And if anything...we stimulate an already "in-the-shitter" economy. Hello??? Food and gas to get more food.....or more weed.

This is refreshing. I agree with all the points made. I am not a marijauna smoker, and never have been. But I know that it's a viable treatment for Bi Polar, is a safer pain treatment than opiates, which are legal through prescription and many other things. The media has demonized it for years, and now it's proven scientifically to much less harmful than many drugs that are legal. Even tylenol has higher risks in many ways than pot. I'm for legalization, and believe that it could help the economy alot. The people who want to smoke, already do smoke, but they run a risk of jail time, in which we, the taxpayers get to pay for their upkeep. It's costing the government huge amounts of money to keep it illegal, when it could be bringing in money through taxation. Doesn't make much sense. Most certainly it could be taxed. Tobacco is taxed isn't it?
My own doctor told me that he didn't know what my views are on marijauna, but if I wanted to take the legal chance, it would benefit me for pain management, due to some serious illness I have. I am not willing to take that chance, and I don't know if I would if it were legal. But it would be nice to have a choice, and it would be nice for others who have serious medical problems to have a choice. And I have no problem with people using it for pleasure. It's simply an herb, put here by a higher power. Surely that means it was meant to be used.
Many states have legalized, but it's still illegal at the federal level. That needs to be changed, and I can see a great many people feel this way. I really believe if it were just put to the vote, it would be legalized by the people. Perhaps there needs to be put together a formal lobby.

If it is in your system, you are under it's influence, period. Doesn't matter if it was 30 minutes ago or 30 days ago. I'm not for or opposed to legalization, however using a crash rate as an argument is like saying it's better to shoot someone in the foot than in the thigh because it's further from the head. If everyone wants it legalized, get organized, raise a few million dollars, go to Washington and play the political game, throw money at it and watch the government flip their position.

marijuana has never been shown to kill people and it does not make your driveing bad... marijuana has more good effects to it than bad.. if marijuana is illegal than ciggarets should be to because they do more harm to your body.. marijuana does no were near not even 1/8 the harm to ur body that ciggarets do so it should be legallized.. the only reason the goverment legallized it is beacause the marijuana industry was bringing in billions of dollars and the goverment couldnt even come near to mkeing that much so they made it illegal... no harm has been proven to a person who smokes a j's every now and then or all the time.. compared to the harm of a ciggarete...
MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGALLIZED!!!!!!!!!!

Ok OK something to say here. it is a little song.

POT IS NATURAL!
IT GROWS IN THE GROUND!
IF GOD DIDN'T WANT IT!
IT WOULDN'T BE FOUND!
SO THOSE OF YOU P_S_Y'S
THAT DON'T GET HIGH
SHUT THE F UP & GIVE IT A TRY!

It is about that simple.
& all in all it is a personal choice so if we wanna do it we should be aloud legally. Those who wanna drink get to do it legally so what the heck!

Also would like to say. I am a daily pot smoker & do not care who knows. But since I have been smoking about a year now I have lost 100 pounds. I know what you r thinking.(munchies) Well I did some research & the reason y you get the (munchies) is pot speeds up your motabolism. So when I get the muchies I refrain from eating. & here I am 100 pound lighter & still going down. So there are some thoughts for ya.. GOOD DAY lol
