I have chronic pain which is helped significantly by very, very small amounts of Marijuana.
I currently am prescribed 360 Oxycontin at one time. That is a very addictive opiate. My tolerance over the years has me now at the highest dosage 4-6 times a DAY.
Tell me which is better? Pharmaceutical companies making huge profits or small mom and pop companies that will spring up to fill the needs of Medical Marijuana. They will pay taxes, maybe create jobs, how can that not be a good thing?
YES! Legalize it!

we have never needed it for anything that made this country great. If people think cigarettes are bad for the lungs, marijuana is 100 times worse... There are too many morons in this country, legalizing would only create more morons and we do not need any more than we already have..

For those of you who blindly oppose Medical Marijuana....I encourage you to do you OWN research - educate yourselves. I am not a marijuana user, but after spending some time in a state with legal MMJ, I can tell you that I did a great deal of research, and my opinion was completely turned around. There are MANY benefits to MMJ (Medical Marijuana). It is FAR less harmful than smoking a pack or 2 of cigarettes a day...there has never been a single documented case of someone dying due to a marijuana overdose (it's virtually impossible to do), yet we have kids and adults dying each and every day from alcohol poisoning and lung disease due to cigarettes. There are several alternatives to simply "smoking" (vaporizing comes to mind) marijuana that come close to totally eliminating the lung damage that can occur.

Don't continue to be a lemming....don't blindly drink the "anti-marijuana" kool-aid....educate yourself.

George Washington encouraged every farmer to grow hemp (aka marijuana). Do your research. Look it up. It's a known fact that it was only outlawed because of pressure put on Washington by cotton farmers.

A lot of poorly educated people on this thread.

Guess William Randolph Hearst was successful in his campaign.

Read the histories of hemp lumber, hemp rope, hemp housing production...our Navy depended on the stuff for the first 100 years of it's existence.

Marijuana is healthier for the lungs, throat, and heart as tobacco is and, if eaten, contains proteins you'd usually have to eat meat to ingest.

As for 'too many morons'...I don't see how them killing brain cells with alcohol makes them any smarter than the temporary altered behavior of those same neurons under the influence of pot.

Newsflash - moderate amounts of marijuana causes no neurological damage. One ounce of alcohol will kill brain cells. If you think the 'morons' can stand to lose brain cells, keep encouraging cigs and alcohol.

Medicinal marijuana should be available to all that need it! The only reason it isn't legal is bc the government can't figure out how to tax it and make a killing arresting people for it!
