Hey Dummy, poison ivy is natural too but I don't see people out there rolling around it. There's alot of natural things we should stay away from.

If poison ivy is legal to smoke, then marijuana should be also.

My husband is a cancer patient and it is still impossible for him to get marinol which is the legal form of thc--you have to be at death's door in order to get it--he is not there yet and I would like to keep him for as long as possible--marijuana is relatively easy to get and does help the pain and he is not hooked on it--it is just used when the pain is unbearable....

Obviously,crime rate will increase.
The economy is too poor to start thinking of that now.Pls don't legalize it.For the fact that it alters the brain composition, why should someone think of it?
Actually the crime rate would go down because most of the drug busts or of people with marijuana--then comes meth---the marijuana importing would stop because people could grow their own or buy it at an established outlet.

to the original post, most dead beat dads are not paying child support because they don't want their exes to have the benefits of their work when they don't get the benefits of wifely duties--also, they don't want their exes taking up with some other guy and"supporting some guy"---the small amount that courts ask dads to pay is a joke--most of the time it is so little that you couldn't get a good bill of groceries with it.

One other thing--if it is legal in Washington D.C., talk about hypocritical----what is the problem with legalizing it over all 50 states --- not hoping on the bandwagon--just asking WHY---

Marijuana Quotes:

“Marihuana is responsible for the raping of white women by crazed negroes.”
—Hearst Newspapers Nationwide-1930

“Marihuana influenced negroes to look at white people in the eye, step on white men’s shadows, and look at a white woman twice.”
—Hearst Newspapers-1935

"After two puffs on a marijuana cigarette, I was turned into a bat."
-Marijuana Tax Act expert witness pharmacologist Dr James Munch-1937

“Marihuana is the most violent drug in the history of mankind.”
-Henry Anslinger, the father of the War on Drugs-1937

“If the hideous monster of Frankenstein came face to face with marihuana, he would drop dead of fright.”
—Anslinger, FBN, quoted in Hearst newspaper-1938

“Negro entertainers with their jazz and swing music are declared an outgrowth of marihuana use which possesses white women to tap their feet.”
—statements to Congress by Anslinger, FBN-1940

"Marijuana is more harmful than habit-forming opium, inducing fits of temporary insanity.”
—Newsweek, 1-15-45

“Marihuana leads to pacifism and Communist brainwashing.”
—Anslinger, before Congress-1948

“Marijuana use makes you sterile.”
—Reagan Administration-1985

“Marijuana leads to homosexuality, the breakdown of the immune system, and therefore to AIDS.”
-- Carlton Turner. White House Drug Czar under Ronald Reagan-1986

This is the basis of our current drug policy. If it wasn't so sad, it would be humorous.

Freedom - the right to do or not do whatever you want to do unless you are bothering or hurting someone else.

The role of government is to protect freedom. That is what our forefathers fought and put their lives on the line for, so we wouldn’t have a dictator or tyrant. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

The insanity of laws which outlaw a natural growing plant makes the constitution of the United States of America not even worth the hemp it's printed on.

It's just as social as alcohol with out worrying about a dui or bar fights marriage problems I can go on.. so its not rationalization its fact how many people die from marijuana use each year if someone can tell me that weed kills more people and ends more marriages then alcohol please show me your proof.. now I agree that there should be a age limit 21 and above and also limits to what you can have on your person but other then that come on I mean really alcohol should be illegal if anything u will never get double vision from marijuana or poisoning and I promise you fast food and grocery places will be booming with business.. lol anyway

Just to add debra it is not legal in Washington DC it is Washington state as well as Colorado for recreational use but it should be legal in every state otherwise its like they are their own country instead of one nation we should have a nation vote for legalization in the USA not just one state... For one because of jobs if you live in one state that its legal then have to move for a job then Ur gonna fail your drug screen

I don't really get why it shouldn't be legalized. If people can't buy it legally, they resort to the black market, I don't think any government can effectively eradicate the illegal vending of marijuana, So if you legalize it, the black market dies away. However we need some way to regulate the usage of it and prevent abuse of it... If we impose taxes or restrictions, people will still buy it from black markets. Perhaps we could do the same with tobacco and alcohol...:)

Louisiana house lawmakers will debate legislation, HB 14, which reduces sentencing guidelines for repeat marijuana offenders.

Under present law, second-time marijuana offenders face up to five years imprisonment and a $2,000 fine. Subsequent offenders face up to 20 years in prison. These disproportionate penalties are among the strictest in the country.

Similar legislation introduced last year was approved by the House but was narrowly defeated on the Senate floor.

According to a September 2013 statewide survey by Public Policy Polling, 53 percent of respondents endorsed regulating and taxing cannabis for those age 21 and older, and 56 percent imposing fine-only citations for marijuana. Obviously, Louisiana’s present penalties are out-of-step with public opinion.

Please click on the link below and use the pre-written letter to contact your House member and urge him or her to vote ‘yes’ on HB 14.
