It's funny how people who are for legalization and ILEGALLY use it now are so quick to defend it. I wouldnt go around bragging that "I'm a proud potsmoker". It's become a status drug of sorts. Why do you need a joint to "wind down"? Why cant you do it on your own body's merits?
why does everyone have to be like you if a person's personal choice does not affect you why do you care America is freedom of choice how a person relaxes is up to them.

It is about time that we are legally allowed a product that definitely helped me in years past with many medical problems with no ill effect; whereas anything a doctor has prescribed has failed to help or caused worse unwanted side effects. Yet I don't strongly disagree with the government getting its hands in the pot and gaining such huge profit/tax from it. We should be allowed to grow a certain personal amount.

Yeah I know, god forbid people actually get off their asses and deal with things.
I've been "off my ass" for 66 years, dealing with everything life has dealt out to me. I own my home 100% loan free, stand on my own feet and ask for nothing, have raised a family, attended college for degrees in art and education, while keeping 3.8 gp average for the duration of attendance. I started smoking 43 years ago and have absolutely no regret, no guilt about it. Fear, Yes but never guilt! That is reason enough that it should be made legal to use. You really don't know the facts about anyone who is a responsible smoker and only a smoker. There are always those people who go overboard with anything, are irresponsible, ignorant and don't give a S#Ip about others - in many segments of society but that is another issue to be handled from other directions and not to be lumped in with the issue of marijuana legalization or not.

Marijuana definitely helped my medical issues also; proven beyond the slightest doubt. Marijuana used alone creates no conflict or negative issues with anyone I have ever encountered, myself included. Now IF I could only get hold of some today I would be so much happier!

I didn't edit! I meant I do strongly disagree about government's hands in for huge share of profit. This is where the 1% top rich intend to come into the picture also.

Very well said! As you said, some people go overboard and anything good is sometimes overdone. Some people say in defense of pot that it is no worse than alcohol. I say there is no comparison of the two and don't need that defense. They are two completely different things.
Legalized pot would be a wonderful thing, but alas, the government wants to get their hands in it and turn it into a heavily taxed commodity. Imagine the tobacco farmer who is being forced to grow soybeans having the unbridled opportunity to grow pot. Left untaxed to death, the profits would benefit everyone. I'd love to have a good corner of my garden devoted to my own personal pot crop.
Legalizing pot would do completely away with the pot cartels and all related crimes connected to pot sales. Shucks, the good old USA, especially here in the south could export the stuff and make a nice living from it.

Of Course- Its a ridiculous waste of money in the justice system. The money should be funneled out of the hands of the black market and put back in the legal U.S. economy.

People are already doing it, the only thing this would change is where the money is going. I would rather see my government get the money and use it on the debt, schools, infrastructure,et c., than Central American guerrillas using the money for WAR!

I'm in favor of complete legalization. A lot of people say "Yep, legalize it and tax it big time." I say treat it as any other agricultural product without excessive taxation. There would be enough revenue from the sale and production of it to make excessive taxation unjustifiable. And keep Monsanto out of it!
Here in east Tn we can grow just about anything better! I know today's pot doesn't rely on seeds so much, but if you have some seeds, plant them in every vacant lot and roadside field you can. If you don't have seed, clone those shoots and suckers out in the fields! Let the stuff grow wild. Marijuana could be the next big moneymaker without a lot of government regulation. Damn a bunch of soybeans, let's raise some pot.

Weed is a natural thing. As long as it doesn't turn into a gateway drug you will have no issues.
