Legalization would weaken the Mexican drug cartels. Bad laws are made to be broken; it's no coincidence that four months after alcohol was re-legalized (October, 1936) that pot was 'illegalized' (February, 1937.)

It was made illegal by a paranoid Senator McCarthy over a cold war lie. Needs to be removed from being illegal.

should be legal. would cut crime rates down a bit and provide a nearly pure profit source for taxes to help the economy a bit.

I'm undecided ... I can see the arguments for, but what about in the workplace (I work in a very safety critical field)... would it be handled as alcohol is now?

Also, not sure legalizing it now would send a good message to kids (I am a parent)... I mean it's already a choice for kids but not a legitimized choice.

Also, not convinced it would cut crime rates ... I may be wrong but it seems crime is mostly associated with harder drugs. I do think the dealers should be pursued rather than the casual users. Maybe legalize growing your own for your own use, but stiffen the penalities for dealing??

The Idea of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" means the freedom of choice for the individual. Legalize freedom for all Americans. Get government out of our personal lives.

ive smoke pot for 9 years now. always did good in school. going to college. plan on getting my masters and becoming a history professor. people need to start taking notice to the fact that many people use marijuana as a cruch or excuse for being lazy or unsuccessful and to the fact that the majority of pot smokers are normal americans that live from the ghetto, to the suburbs, to mansions. it makes my stomach turn when i think that anyones wife or husband or brother or sister is in jail for the profit of the privatized prisons taking over the american court rooms. it just a plant.. its time to stop the oppression of this group.

you obviously have never smoked so how can you make a blind judgement like that. its far safer that drinking and you'd have to smoke 1000 joints to get the same effect as 5 beers. beer makes you act like a wild animal and make bad decisions and weed just relaxes you and makes you think and want to eat let alone get in your car. yet i can see how it would make your reactions slower so it should have penaltys for driving high just like drinking. but the same way you have the right, THAT YOU ALWAYS SHOULD, to go to your friends and get drunk and then have the DECISION to get in the car or not as should i with a joint. actually i should have that right before anyone who drinks because you are more likely to make a good decision high than you are drunk. so all of us potheads would like to say fuck you.. get out of your basement and actually try the shit before you make such blind judgements.

I support, at minimum, medical use. There are people that truly benefit from the use of marijuana. Unfortunately there are many abusers that give it a bad rap.

All or nothing. Cant make exceptions for drunks, but pot heads must suffer. Besides, its all natural
