Too much abuse now. Legalize it and you will compound an already serious problem.

marijuana, as we all know, is a plant. it has only 400 chemicals, coffee however, has over 1400 chemicals in it. so why is marijuana illegal? coffee gives you a sugar rush, and weed gives you a high. if the united states were to sell it at local gas stations, and make it illegal to carry without a receipt as proof, then arrest them. but if you were to sell it and tax it the U.S would make a lot of money. it seems like a bright idea. after all, we do it anyways, and we'll continue to do it as we please, so why not make money off it instead of spending money on imprisoning the offenders? please take my suggestion into question. Thank you.

Why not? If alcohol is legal, why something much less potent not be? Just think of all the money the government is losing out on to the streets. We could get out of national debt just by legalizing.

marijuana can be used with medicinal purposes, the oils can be used to treat cancer cells.the plant itself can be used to treat insomnia, depression, anxiety, and so much more. furthermore, hemp can fight against de-forestation by making hemp paper, which can last much longer and can be recycled much more efficiently. the oils in hemp can also produce a bio diesel engine fuel. But the biggest reason to legalize marijuana is simply our right to freedom. How free are we if we cant even cultivate a plant that has been cultivated for thousands of years?

It's illegal because the government cant find a way to control and profit from it. Weed is far different from tobacco. Anyone can easily grow their own weed where tobacco requires labor.

Personally why have we allowed the government to criminalize things that don't infringe upon the rights of others?

No victim, no crime!
