1. marijuana hasn't been shown to be more or as harmful/addictive than alcohol or tobacco.
2. legalize pot, legalize industrial hemp. very useful natural fiber.
3. Increase tax base, and free up law enforcement resources for more beneficial narcotics enforcement

Decriminalizing pot would leave the cops more time to attend to actual "crimes". I can't believe there is alcohol in every store here, but pot is illegal. I'd rather be around a stoner over a drunk any day of the week. Prohibition didn't work in the old days.... it isn't working now....The "war on drugs" is a joke...legalize it all, and watch the only "criminals" involved (the dealers) find something else to make money off so fast your head will spin ....clear out the jails and free up lots of tax dollars for more important issues!

Yes,the good things about it outweigh the bad parts by far. Right now I can not think of anything bad about it. The key is use not abuse in everything in my life.

It's none of the government's business if I smoke pot for medical reasons, or for pleasure, either one.

Not every junkie started with pot; they started with cigarettes, then beer, and then pot.

i oppose beer to not be sold on sunday and they shouldn't be within so many miles from churches. when beer is sold.i am like one of these people the government should not get involved. they cann't seem to take care of other businesses either. we donn't need taxes raised either. becauses people like myself and my husband on on a fixed income we donn't have money to take us through to the next month after we paid our bills and buy groceries. these dammn people wont hired you no matter what. but you let some damn forier come in they aren't legal and they work for maybe 5.oo an hour plus food stamps. free medical .

billions wasted in irag. this is crazy too. i think obama should quit giving away americans money. we paid money into system and when you get sick and cann't work they take medicare out of our check before we get it plus office call and percention even tho. you have part a. partb. c, and d. they are something a wrong with this governor, salies, of the washington government and also the senter also this country is getting worst day by day. the money shouldn't be giving to other countries you donn't see the government reaching out to our people, people is in forceurs and losing their homes. that they have work for all their life.hey this is freedom of speech.

Lorraine,
if pot is legal, only people who abuse the rules or drive under the influence will be put in jail. There will be /Less/ people put in jail for a couple joints. Crime: if it's legal there won't be dealers shooting each other over pot, and cops can focus on protecting and investigating real crime.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'control on jobs' but there will be control on pot, like alcohol. people will get carded when they buy (less kids using).
I think there are 'polices' who use alcohol now, no difference.

Congratulations, you have made it quite clear that you have no idea what you're talking about. So much so that I question why I even argue, because you're the type of person who has "pot is bad" engraved in you brain because it's what you've been told over and over. You will never see it any other way...sorta like my grandparents! It's funny, like you they also believe that potheads are criminals who are dangerous and crazy. If they knew that I smoked pot they're heads would probably explode, because they think i'm a very straight-laced guy...well, I am actually. I've been smoking on and off for around four years and I have never been in any trouble in my life. I got a warning for speeding once and I think I had detention once in middle school. I've tried a couple of other drugs...didn't really like them and I've stayed away ever since. I didn't become addicted to anything because I don't really have an addictive personality. People who become addicted and negatively affected by marijuana or any other substance/alcohol are the same people who have no goals, desires, morals, etc and are always looking for the easy way out. Of course there will always be the ones who use it as something to hide behind, just like bad people will get their hands on weapons.

Your opinions are obviously based off of one side of marijuana users and not all of them, making your opinions useless here. You fail to see that there are also many many users who are good people with good intentions in life. Anything can be bad when in the wrong hands. Vehicles, guns, alcohol, other drugs, etc. I have many friends who smoke pot and are doing very well in school and have graduated or are graduating soon, as am I.

Marijuana would raise taxes, create jobs, and would open many cells in an already over crowded prison system for violent offenders.

Yes, I'd rather have someone smoke pot who's happy & hungry vs. an alcoholic who's obnoxious and gets behind the wheel.

Whether you actually support Marijuana is not the issue here. Legalizing would do wonders for the local and national economy at a time when we need all the help we can get.

Too many good things to outweigh the bad in this situation. Even if you don't support Marijuana itself, it would actually do more good than harm to legalize it. Many people above have stated the good reasons why and I think the bad economy should be a great incentive to push legislation through.

Marijuana definitely beats alcohol any day and in many different ways. If you really think Marijuana should stay illegal then you probably support prohibition, lol.

It should be legalized and taxed. We can sure use the revenue.
I dont buy the 'gateway drug' theory- many people get hooked on and/or abuse prescription drugs that have never even smoked a cigarette or had a single drink of alcohol.
The side effects of pot is nothing compared to some of the side effects of almost all the synthetic drugs advertised on TV.
Pot is no worse for the human body than cigarettes and alcohol and both of those are legal...... for now
