All the dope money going out of the US economy should be turned into tax money from the licensed legal production and sales that will all but eliminate the bootleg market. The so-called war we are wasting tax dollars on now can’t be won while there is still so much money to be made. The availability of legal marijuana will also greatly reduce the demand for the other far more dangerous illegal drugs supplied by the same people.

No it shouldn't be legal. If it's made legal then crack and everything else will follow. If a person is sick then thats what Doctors and Pharmacies are for.

It's a lot safer than cigaretts, as long as it's kept pure without all the chemicals that company's add to cigaretts. It helps people with their nerves, sleeping disorders, headaches, CANCER. Plus there would be no $$$ reason to smuggle it.
I've never heard a Doctor prescribe cigaretts for a cancer patient. But marijuana, yes because it helps.

it's useless to put decent people in jail for they're desire to smoke pot. This is going on everywhere, so tax it and commercialize it. There is tax revenue in the billions per year being wasted, stonners will always do it so let's make a dollar off of their choice of lifestyle.

Too many unnecessary convictions and related costs to house non-criminal activity

The obvious reasons have all been covered, and that's why it's going to happen. The MAJORITY now knows that they've been lied to about marijuana, and understand that this misinformation was a product of government and corporate greed. Add to it that they've found a way to somewhat successfully tax it, and suddenly the government's greed trumps the interests of large pharmaceutical giants that they were previously "in-bed" with.

The captcha was "4200", BTW. Coincidence? I think not.

Millions of citizens are considered criminals for smoking a weed because of some political nonsense in the 1930's. We could really use their tax dollars.

Marijuana has been around for centuries. You rarely hear about many people having bad health side affects from it, nor dying from it, besides that, its been proven to have a calming effect that seems to work well on medical weed smokers, and many others. Even Scientist are considering treating combat veterans with marijuana because most SSRIs and SSNRIs along side of therapy fail to actually rehabilitate a large portion of our war hero's.

criminalizing people for their choice of recreation obviously doesn't work. also laws are supposed to represent the people'
s decisions - look at this poll and it's obvious the people do not want this law.

More damage to the individual and our society is done by legalized drugs such as alcohol every year. You hear about families losing children, husbands, and wives by being hit by drunk drivers. You never hear marijuana mixed up in situations like that. Also, California makes over 100 million dollars a year on taxes from marijuana. Do the math, if all states legalized marijuana it would be possible to provide approximately 5 billion dollars a year towards much needed programs that are currently being cut due to government overspending. Also, there are many countries that are self-sustaining, and marijuana is legalized. Not to say that marijuana made them self-sustaining, but the point is that even though marijuana is legalized they are still productive enough to be self-sustaining.

I don't think it really hurts anyone but makes people feel better that are sick.It is a natural herb that would probably draw people away from hard drugs and chemicals.
