It is good that the government is taking a stand but no matter what the laws entail, people are still growing marijuana on their balconies and I am amazed that some senior citizens are growing cannibas and PCP on their balconies over in Leisure World and I was told that they are doing it because they are on retirement Social Security Income that pays little money. They have to improvise by making money by having people from the streets of D.C. as well as people from Langley Park, Riverdale and even Bowie come over to buy weed from them. The weed business is quite lucrative and the cops are fighting a rather losing battle to eradicate the weed trade as is.

I dont do drugs, nor do I like or support them. But people who smoke marijuana, are not criminals. Smoking a harmless herb is illegal, but drinking poison(alcohol) is not? It was abolished over a political debacle decades ago, and is keeping good people in jail.

Because I will wind up paying for their extra stupidity. And to think that the person with the lowest passing grade in medical school will be prescribing this stuff.

with all the issues of alcohol the government should see that marijuana is a much safer substance that can also be regulated as beer and liquor, taxed which we result in more jobs. This is just like the prohibition era in the 20's. We as a people need to understand the need for the legalization now and not later.

I don't do drugs and never have--it just has never appealed to me. I'd rather eat a good donut, which may be just as unhealthy.
I don't care what people do in their own homes, but I don't want to be around drug users or have anything to do with them. So I feel I have a right to do drug testing on my employees and fire them if they smoke pot--even if it were legalized.

It will make the cartels lose money and power. It's less harmful to your body than alcohol by a long shot.

I see no logical reason why marijuana should not be legal. The notion that it leads to harder drug use is very weak. I see more problems with alcohol. If it was regulated that money could be used for so many things. From a medical perspective marijuana has significant benefits!

I think that giving it the green light is wrong, but to look the other way is more approved. I do not believe it is good as a whole, but I do not think people should be jailed, arrested, or receive a criminal penalty for use and possession.

It's more dangerous to community and spirit by keeping it in the nebulous shadow. No one who uses it dies at the rate of our legal poisons. You want stupidity, just look at $14 billion bucks going to other countries. It was a tax issue in the early 20th century and it will solve tax revenue issues now. You like shopping at Wal-Mart? 85% of their products are Chinese made. We need something manufactured here. Let's grow our economy back to health. It is unequivocally more harmless.
