I cannot believe you would even say that. Coffee and energy drinks are sold by the billions every day. All containing chemicals (or "drugs" since they do in fact alter the way the mind and/or body function) and noone even bothers to raise an eyebrow. Need to pep up in the morning? Grab a cup of java. Or how about a red bull for that workout? Maybe a 5 hour energy shot to get through that tiring shift at work?
However, THC is a downer and not an upper, so I suppose it is a "bad drug". Wrong, do your research before flaunting your ignorance on the internet please.
so drugs are okay as long their uppers? Just sayin their around whether illegal or not so why not make money off of it and actually be able to control it a little as opposed to not at all?

Reduce government spending for housing and court cost for the crime. Help focus more on other crimes and and drugs such Meth and Heroin.

That is absolute rubbish. My child self medicates because marijuana is the only thing that helps her with a debilitating neurological disease. The legal drugs don't help. Without marijuana she can't eat, sleep, or walk and is in unrelenting pain. She makes a butter out of the marijuana and cooks with it because she doesn't want to smoke it. Her use of marijuana keeps her independent. She works, is self sufficient, has earned a Bachelors degree, and is about to finish grad school...just saying

God bless your daughter for what she is going through and thank God the marijuana is helping relieve her symptoms. Alot of the people on this particular blog are very misinformed. I myself used marijuana while suffering from the affects of chemotherapy. I have to say it was a miracle drug with no side affects. I was given anti nausea pill after anti nausea pill with no relief from sickness. After a few puffs of marijuana it was instant relief. It's an absolute miracle cure. I have no first hand self account for any other ailment it cures or helps, but I am very open minded to believe it to be possible with the much needed relief it provided to me.

It is unfortunate that medicinal marijuana not be made available for persons suffering from medical ailments that have been proven to be helped by marijuana use. Shame on legislatures and MO voters for denying Patients this miracle drug that they need. You better believe that these multi billion dollar pharmaceutical companies play a large role in preventing legislation from being passed or presented to voters through their lobbying efforts to protect their empire.

As with any drug there is the risk of misuse if some would want to use that as an argument to prevent its medical use. The potential affects of any marijuana misuse have nowhere near the harmful affects of other pharmaceuticals that are handed out daily like candy. Look at opiate based pain killers for example. These are easily obtained and destroy people and families. I hate to be funny on such a serious topic, but marijuana misuse for persons not requiring the medication would result in having the munchies, some laziness, and dry mouth. Marijuana does not have the risk factors associated with pharmaceuticals.

The downside of this not being legal is the patients inability to locate or access a good clean grade of marijuana. There is alot of "dirt weed" out there that is supplied to the masses that are smoking out of habit or recreationally if there is such a category. I was very lucky to have had a friend who was able to locate a very good grade medicinal quality product for my use. I do not think I would have had the great results with a lesser product.

Good luck to your daughter and family. I wish her the best and hope she is able to obtain her much needed natural medicine. God bless.

I usually just read and seldomly comment on this website. Too much drama for me. However this topic has always found an interest in me. First let's remember that this is JUST a topic not deccission making place... Everyone has an opinion and deserves that right to say yes or no. There will always be haters in anything that involves a formal deccission to be made. I have smoked and enjoyed it and due to it currently being illegal I haven't smoked since my early 20's. When it is legalized I will in fact smoke it for the various reasons that it helped me with before. There is nothing I can say that hasn't been said in here a hundred times. The facts speak for themselves and the facts can been researched in tons of places with staggering poles and studies to back up any other questions of the effects on people. The great thing about all of this is we are witnessing history in the making something that is going to help with not just medical or having a fun weekend... It's jobs, it frees up millions of tax dollars from the prison systems and there are three max security prisons in Missouri 2 of which are in our county. Why do u think a big portion of Missouri is considered poor?... It's a hundred other things as well all of which are good. There are 16 states successfully doing this already and most have been for years with no problem at all. WHEN Missouri passes this bill other states will follow suite seeing that it's ok to try something new even if it has to scare a few other folks. CALM DOWN GET EDUCATED! Number one quote on here that best describes this topic. Of u don't care for it don't want it to pass whatever may happen vote on it it's the fairest way to handle this issue per say. Because this state WILL get enough signatures for 2012!!

I'm out!

Happy holidays!

Pot/weed/marijuana, whatever you want to call it is ILLEGAL. Get over it losers, get a job and get off your lazy @$$'s. the whole "I need it for medical reasons" is crap, cowboy up, good lord if you people weren't such pansies maybe you could hack a hard day at work or a little pain, I've made it all my life without it and its been a bumpy road. It's illegal, move on with life, we don't need a bunch of long haired hippy stoners roaming around, get a job, cut your hair, and clean yourself up. There's nothing that lights a fire under me worse than some screw up drug head POS moron who says "marijuana should be legal" move somewhere it is legal then, and gtfo of here, I'm prolly paying for your welfare with my tax dollars as we speak. If u ppl only knew how many of ur co-workers smoke and still take care of their responsibilities and pay taxes just like everyone else... The only reason u don't is because its illegal and they have to hide it.

Just because you smoke marijuana doesn't mean you are lazy and sit on your ass all day. Most go to work everyday and are probably smarter than you if you still think marijuana is so bad.

The only reason why weed is illegal is because it can't be taxed due to it being grown naturally.
Some of the greatest artists and musician smoked weed. Why? Because it helps the mind make connections it wouldn't normally make. William Shakespeare smoked weed and created some of his greatest plays doing so. And there hasn't ever been a recorded weed overdose, simply because it's debatably impossible.
It's also a major stress reliever and the affects it has on people vary. I, on one hand, have never experienced it as a "downer" but more so as something that makes me think positively. It makes me happier and doesn't make me fall asleep. Stop believing the crap you've been told and actually look it up and research about. This town is so gullible.
Hmm, Im amazed at the stupidity all over this thread.. I love the fact that everyone is stuck on "Nobudies haz urverderrzd!!" Hey, if I threw a ball at you while you were stoned how long do you think it would take for you to realize it was coming at you? If you were just driving around minding your own business stoned off your a** how long do you think it would take you to notice the child running into the street to grab their ball? Weed IS a downer, just like alcohol. It DOES kill people because there has been thousands of records proving that the people who have died in a car wreck were people under the influence of Marijuana.
You sit here and try to defend weed by saying that it makes YOU happier and others defend it by saying it doesnt kill people. Weed is JUST like alcohol. The only difference is it has the potential to make you fat.
I would recommend you to do your own kind of research and quit defending this topic because you don't have the slightest clue of what you are talking about.

Its just like alcohol. That could be your child running in the street after their ball one day. Wouldnt you rather have someone alert on the road?
