The government needs to do a better job at convincing the American voters if they want to continue on with this failed prohibition of marijuana. They claim that the 'plant' is dangerous and deadly, yet they can't provide any proof or credible evidence to back these claims up. If you want to know the FACTS about marijuana then click on the link below.

Louisiana house lawmakers will debate legislation, HB 14, which reduces sentencing guidelines for repeat marijuana offenders.

Under present law, second-time marijuana offenders face up to five years imprisonment and a $2,000 fine. Subsequent offenders face up to 20 years in prison. These disproportionate penalties are among the strictest in the country.

Similar legislation introduced last year was approved by the House but was narrowly defeated on the Senate floor.

According to a September 2013 statewide survey by Public Policy Polling, 53 percent of respondents endorsed regulating and taxing cannabis for those age 21 and older, and 56 percent imposing fine-only citations for marijuana. Obviously, Louisiana’s present penalties are out-of-step with public opinion.

Please click on the link below and use the pre-written letter to contact your House member and urge him or her to vote ‘yes’ on HB 14.

Marijuana Decriminalization Measure Introduced for Louisiana:

Legislation is pending in the House to reduce marijuana possession penalties to a non-criminal, fine-only offense. House Bill 906 amends penalties for the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana from a criminal offense (punishable by up to six-months in jail) to a fine-only, no arrest, jail, or criminal record.

The ongoing criminalization of marijuana financially burdens taxpayers, encroaches upon civil liberties, engenders disrespect for the law, and disproportionately impacts communities of color.

Please click on the link below and use the pre-written letter to contact your elected officials in support of this sensible marijuana law reform.
