The so-called 'War on Drugs' is in reality a war on United States citizens. The tangible benefit from this 'drug war' uniformly accrues to the owners of privatized prisons, the CEO's of the 'big 3' pharmaceutical companies, and material gain to the budgets (and leaders) of local and State law enforcement. It also infringes on the ability of individuals to prosper by encouraging the growth of a weed for our own enrichment, because these companies 'suffer' when people can freely grow the proven best alternative to their product.

And dangit - I forgot to include drug cartels from other countries as another group this 'war on drugs' policy has subsidized and actively encouraged to profit by same.

No one 'needs' encouragement to become a pot head. Pot takes care of that all by itself.

Legalize it and tax the crap out of it. People will use MJ no matter what. Maybe the legalization of MJ will be the boost the economy needs... You never know...

No different from taxing alcohol or tobacco.
