I do not smoke the stuff but I have never heard of anyone killing a family because they was too stoned to drive and I have never heard of anyone blowing up their house because of smoking. I think they should worry more about dwi and meath and herion then weed.

Speak for yourself, I know alot of functional stoners. If you didn't know they smoke you would never be able to tell. They are very much functioning members of society, who pay taxes, have meaningful jobs and smoke pot everyday. If they would legalize it they could tax it and pay for some of the budget issues that every city in Mo and across the country seems to be going through right now. Our schools are declining very rapidly, which is only going to hurt us in the long run because these are the people that are going to be running the country someday. There is research that proves pot doesn't affect your brain cell count. Not to mention all the medical conditions it treats. I'm sorry but alcohol is manufactured, cocaine is manufactured, heroin is manufactured....Pot grows in our backyards. If they continue to keep it illegal they might as well outlaw tomatoes, and lettuce. Those too grow from the ground...does that make them horrible? I believe that pot has gotten a bad name because someone back in the day tried it and had a bad reaction to it, the same things happen everyday to people that take prescription drugs that are very much legal. If pot was legal the pharmacutical companies would go out of business, it has been estimated that 80% of the prescription drugs on the market today would be eliminated. Show me the list of people that have had sudden death from heart failure or someone that get colitis, or has strokes from smoking weed. There is no such list, yet there are thousands of prescription drugs being recalled everyday because people die or grow a third arm or something weird. I agree that some people probably can not smoke weed and function but it is a small percentage, and after all it is a drug and all drugs affect people differently whether it is legal or illegal. It is close minded people that keep it illegal, if they would actually do some research on the benefits of medical marajuna they may not be so affraid of legalizing it. Perhaps if it was their mother or father suffering from cancer and chemotherapy which can in most cases be worse than the cancer that it treats. A lot of people are quick to yell "Stoner" but what kinds of stoner crimes have you heard about? Maybe a holdup of a jack in the box, or McDonalds due to the munchies, but not much in the way of a high crime drug. Most stoners that I know are too tired to go anywhere once they have smoked. I think people need to get over the fact that it has been illegal and look at the positives that it can bring to the table right now.

There are too many uneducated people out there that want to condemn something but have not done any research on the topic. Smoking marijuana DOES NOT cause the same harm as smoking cigarettes because it does not contain all of the harmful man-made chemicals! Smoking pot is far more safer than anything else that is legal to smoke or treat people for ailment. Dont get me wrong, I do not condone the legalization of drugs by any means. I do not however consider marijuana to be a "drug" in the same category as the manufactured drugs. Prescription pills are man-made and have to be manufactured to produce same as meth, cocaine, heroin, etc. Look at the harm alcohol causes one's body but yet it is perfectly legal and can be purchased anywhere. How many deaths per year are caused by drunk driving or drinking alcohol, taking prescription pills, taking meth, coke, heroin, ecstacy, etc. How many people have you ever heard about that was high on pot that killed anyone, whether in an accident or robbery, how many have you ever heard of dying from the effects pot has caused on their body...NONE The only reason marijuana is illegal is that alot of rich businessmen out there would stand to lose a whole bunch of money. Dont you think that making something legal that could really benefit many very sick people out there is better than some dumbfuck making money off something that if it actually helps causes 10 more side-effects that are worse than what you are treating in the first place!

So while you were doing all this in depth research. Did you forget the huge problems in Mexico with drug gangs. Also i guess since poison ivy grows naturally too its ok to eat and all thoughs things about it giving off a poison is just a rumor. I am sure out in licking,mo there are more constructive things to do.

No don't tax it. we pay enough taxes. just get the government out of our lives and personal business. It is just a common weed after all. And GOD tells Noah in the book of Genesis (after the flood) All of the plants and animals of the land, and the fishes of the sea are for the USE of mankind. That includes hemp. As always everyone tries to over think everything. And impose their beliefs, and will on everybody else.

At least 80% of the people I know smoke and they are all productive citizens except the 10% that get involved in hard drugs. They say pot is a gateway drug this is false. I never thought about smoking pot until alcohol and tobacco the true gateway drugs Geologic Information about Missouri
er thought about smoking pot until I tried cigarretes and alcohol the true gateway drug.

The legalization od marijuana would do nothing but lead to other harder drugs, our children need leadership. Not dope.
