The topic is about legalizing marijuana not drugs. Were you not educated to the fact that cannabis is a seed bearing herb. Drugs are man made or chemically extracted.

You people are bright and shiny examples why marijuana SHOULD NOT be legalized. Marijuana IS a drug. If it's absorbed into the body and alters normal functions then it's a drug. Marijuana alters the mind, making it a, you got it, drug. So, You're The Idiot, that makes YOU the idiot!

go tell a judge that marijuana is not a drug, and legalizing it would not solve anything especially anything related to criminal activity!!! oh and by the way alcohol is legal and as has been stated on this post it is responsible for some unlawful activity!!!

As expected, a typical response from an uneducated, uninformed, southern, hillbilly on the edge of the bible belt. So I guess you put sugar, chocolate, caffeine hell even water in that category too. Water you say! That,s right water! Go a week without drinking anything and see how you feel. Then drink some water and tell me you don't feel and think different. Do some research, educate yourself and maybe you won't appear to be such a stereotype of your region. According to the poll it's a landslide or maybe 30,000 people are just not as smart as your hillbilly ignorance.

Your incessant name calling proves just how uneducated you are.

Your argument about water is weak and without substance. The difference between water and marijuana is water is not habit forming, it does not alter your mental status when ingested and it's a necessity for ALL living things. Naturally, if one goes without water for a week the body will not function the way it's meant to but you must go WITHOUT it for that to happen. Marijuana MUST be ingested for it to alter mental status. So thank you for proving MY point without even knowing it.

Sugar, chocolate, caffeine, and hell for shits and giggles I'll add nicotine, ARE habit forming and they DO alter the mental state. They were, at one time, also illegal, well with the exception of sugar. But for some reason the government decided to legalize those and found that, oh how did you phrase it, "seed bearing herb" proved to dangerous to legalize.

For future reference, I AM NOT uneducated. I AM NOT uninformed and I AM NOT a hillbilly. Oh, and just because I happen to live on the edge of the bible belt doesn't mean a damn thing. The bible and it's so called belt is the furthest thing from my life. Oh, almost forgot, I'm not completely against marijuana. I'm fine with medicinal marijuana but one must have a long lasting or severe illness to obtain a prescription. It should also be closely regulated by the DEA in accordance with the Controlled Substance Act of 1970.

Find a better argument.

Touche my friend touche. My bad I bundled you with the local mentality without knowing you. However you failed to mention that you can overdose and die from drinking too much water(especially from cooper lake). It is proven that it is impossible to overdose on pot. Just curious, based on your comment about the bible belt, what is your religious preference, you got my attention. For pro quot I am Taoist. If you study the history of cannabis it started out legal and the government once payed farmers to grow it(hemp)then due to lobbyists for the paper industry it was made illegal. Later due to the demand for products made from hemp it was legalized. Next it was made illegal due to a bunch of racist bigots thinking the blacks were using it to lure white women. It was then, unfortunately, the government pumped propaganda led to it being bundled in with hardcore narcotics and made illegal. It's unfortunate because it is probably the single most useful plant on earth, not only does it produce one of the strongest softest fibers known to man, it was used for over 5000 textile products, it can produce over 25,000 other products ranging from dynamite to cellophane, and has literally countless medicinal uses. Oh yeah it makes one of the best most durable papers known. The oil produces one of the cheapest cleanest burning diesel alternatives known. Check out "The Union" "The business of getting high" it is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen about cannabis. Do a yahoo search(I'm anti google) and check it out. I thought I knew a lot about it too until I viewed the video. PEACE

Oh yeah I have smoked everyday since I was 15. I'm nearly 50 now and have have done a lot, 3 degrees, lived and worked in over a half dozen countries. I am a teacher and have taught thousands of people from all over the world and am in better physical health than over 90% of people half my age(at least that's what my doc said)I'm a vivacious learner and got a memory like a steel trap. I don't ingest chemicals of any kind or form not even aspirin.

I am fully aware of water intoxication but did not mention it because water intoxication can be attributed with a psychiatric disorder or with people who over indulge in physical activities and or exercise. I studied this, at length, in a psychology class I took years ago.

I am also aware of the history of cannabis. But I am confused. If you don't ingest any chemicals, then what do you think THC is? Even though it is naturally occurring, it's still a chemical.

As for my religion? I don't associate myself with a religion because so many of them are considered radical and aren't willing to accept it because that term has has been used to label terrorists. Take the crazy in Gainesville, FL, he's a radical Christian, I use the word Christian very loosely with him, if not more cult like. Too many people have a distorted view of Christianity and it's led to hate, a lack of care for other people and fear mongering. I respect everyone's right to practice whatever religion they want and I don't hate an entire religious community based on a few bad apples. So what is my religious preference? You tell me? But I'm not a sheep (yes, I caught the last line of your name calling post).

If someone wants to smoke a joint and aren't driving, then they should be able to. It's an exercise of personal freedom, though it should be treated just like alcohol. You smoke and drive, you're going to jail
