At 15, the government said I could legally get an abortion without parental consent.

At 18, the government told me that I was old enough to legally make the choice to destroy my lungs, get COPD, emphysema, and/or cancer w/ cigarettes.

At 21 they told me it's my choice to destroy my liver, kidneys, and brain w/ alcohol, as well as make the decision to drink and drive (1/3 of all IL Fatalities are alcohol related crashes)

All I had to do was acknowledge and accept all consequences for above said actions (which is defined as "participation in" by government standards).

So, if I can decide whether or not to have a child, to destroy my body, or to drink and drive, how am I not capable of deciding on whether or not I want to smoke weed? WTF? Anyone else see the irony here?

Legalization, for me anyway, is simply about having the choice. And maybe we could finally see lower taxes considering all the revenue the government could make through taxation and legalization. Oh, and let's not forget all the money that would be saved b/c the prisons and judicial systems would be far less crowded since we would no longer have to prosecute non-violent drug offenders.

Should slow the new American 'business' of prisons. Sadly it seems the only thing that we lead the world in.

Actually Al, that's not the only thing: a recent poll of the world asked the question "What is America best known for?"

Care to guess?

Should be legalized. It is no worse than alcohol. This has medicinal purposes.
