It's ridiculous that in different parts of the country it goes from a $100 civil infraction to a felony (like LA) for being caught with a little pot. I honestly don't know why Louisiana is so uptight about marijuana considering the majority of the people I've meet here do smoke on occasion, or don't mind it at all. However once the old school politicians start to die off (and good riddance, they've done enough damage), it WILL be legal, and it will be regulated similarly to alcohol. Kids these days are smarter now, they know they're being fed bullshit about weed in anti-drug classes. They know what the side effects of weed are, they have access to unbiased studies online. Always look at the facts for face value, do your own research and come to your own conclusions. Don't be a damn drone, programed by your teachers, your politicians, your parents. Think for yourself, unless of course you like blindly following others.

If you begin to allow the legalization of one drug, then you are opening a gate to let all of the other illegal narcotics in.

Keep one thing in mind: Legalization will let you buy, sell, and possess but it will not nullify the right of a company that is a drug free workplace to fire you if you are caught with MJ in your system on their premises. You are told all the rules of a drug free workplace up front, very plain, you are given written information on the program, very plain, and you sign a paper stating you understand all the rules, very plain. So when you get caught you can't say you didn't know. In that program what you do on your time is your business but what you have in your system on their time on their property is theirs'. It's not worth having a drug dismissal on your record unless you like day labor and flippin' burgers. Now if you are wealthy or self employed, there shouldn't be a problem. Peace!

a drug free workplace is not the same as legalizing weedfor example you can no longer smoke cigaretts in the work place so your argument is lame. I would much rather drive beside someone on pot than on alcohol.pot does not make a man beat his wife & children either

Making any plant illegal is nonsensical. There are thousands of legal plants which are more dangerous than cannabis.

There is no reason at all to hurt people for the rest of their lives (with a criminal record) over someone smoking a recreational drug.

Why would people want others to be legally driving, working and intermingling with society while they are high? What if it was your child's school bus driver or teacher that was high; what if it was your doctor about to do surgery on you or what if it was a lunatic with a gun and a bad buzz on. Do you really want society to be exposed to the thousands of people that will abuse legalizing marijuana? What's next? Surly the drug dealers and pot heads would love to have marijuana legalized; I say put them in rehab and teach them how to function in society without being high but then they would actually have to function and get off the couch or from in front of the computer or TV, eating snack food and trying to figure out ways to rip people off. You can't use your head for logical thinking and living a productive life if you are higher than a kite; instead of getting high, GET REAL.

It's too bad people need to be high to function; it's a sad world we live in. People, why not get real instead of getting high? You cannot unleash your potential if you are higher than a kite; it's the lazy persons way out of functioning normally in society. I understand medical purposes for drugs but so many people walk away addicts, don't make it easier for people to become addicts. Marijuana is a drug, just as dangerous as any other drug. Cigarettes damage the lungs don't you think Marijuana does as well, not to mention what it does to your mind. The only people that will love legalizing Marijuana are the ones that use and abuse it!

Yes, I support the legalization of marijuana and will one day at the polls vote to end cannabis prohibition. No explanation needed. It's just the logical thing to do.

Pot, is not harmful and is good for anyone in moderation , and people can be productive in society in all levels even when high. Majiwuana is the only narcotic that is not harmful
Or a carcinogen in any form. By legalizing majiwana you would decriminalize the drug and drug dealers would be forced to become a part of civilized society , and more than likely if majiwana was legal people would be less likely to do other drugs. The reason why pot is a gateway drug is because it's illeagal and you have to go to a drug dealer to get it, which puts you in the possible presence of other drugs. Be realistic there are politicians making unknown amounts of money by keeping it illeagal because you have to pay fines, fees, bail out of jail, lawyers, and for every person in a correctional facility the tacitly get pairs by the government . There is also a flip side that more money would be made by medical and recreationally bought at a higher tax than alcohol or tobacco. As far as neighborhood high people do not commit violent crimes but will eat your Doritos , Cheetos, and/or all food present and week old leftovers hahaha I am completely for the legalization of marjuwana.
