My understanding is that marijuana is safer than either alcohol or tobacco. So why in the world is it still illegal for adults? I don't get it.

What I do to my own body in my own home is no one else's business. To continue to spend tax dollars to investigate, prosecute, and jail pot smokers is insane.

Marijuana was categorized w/ alcohol during the prohibition. While yes, any drug can be harmful, marijuana has more good properties than bad.

I think marijuana is a lot safer than drinking and a lot of other drugs. It helps a lot of people in many different ways.

If nothing else decriminalize it. I'm tired of the war on drugs scam. I'm tired of paying to jail pot heads while legal more harmful drugs kill people doing them and others daily. Drug corps, tobacco, and alcohol manufacturers, and a mass privately owned prison system are the real problem, not the little harmless plant their waging war on for profit at the expense of millions of lives. I don't smoke it, but I know from an educational aspect that, marijuana is not whats killing people.

Keeping marijuana under the category of all the other drugs out there is ludicrous. It's a waste and a shame for jails to be filled with marijuana users.

please take the time to do your own research, compare the average of yearly marijuana deaths (remains at ZERO year after year) to the number of deaths caused each year buy cigs, alcohol, aspirin, caffeine and most importantly prescription drugs- i think you will be astonished!

There are so many other much harder drugs that need to be addressed. I don't personally use the stuff, however, I have never heard of anyone under the effects of marijuana killing someone in a car crash (like alcohol has).
One other thought... if the police officers had more time to get drugs like crystal meth, pcp, lsd, etc,.. off the streets, we would all be a little safer.

God gave us this plant to help with many illnesses. He doesn't want you to abuse it. I believe it calms people, helps them to sleep, and also deal with chronic pain. This could boost the economy by making it legal to sell. It is also good for mental disorders. People are going to continue to buy as long as it is illegal. I would rather my children use this drug and not drink alcohol, and abuse precription drugs. This could eliminate the methadone clinics all over the United States which the government supports. Government is making money on this but the people are not. I think maybe that is one reason it has not been legalized.
