Legalize it, tax it, regulate it (like alcohol), and put an end to supporting gangs and drug dealers who make a profit off of it. Prediction: Will boost the sales of snack foods!

Even after legalization certain companies should still test for it (ex: airlines) You wouldn't logically go to work drunk, same thing should apply for that.

Oh right like impaired reactions slowed reflexes and being really hungry, man that is WAY worse then alcohol huh? Give me a negative side effect, and I don't smoke it legal or not but I would much rather feel with a stoned pot head then a wasted alcoholic. I never heard of car wrecks killing families where the cause was smoking weed and thousands of drunk driving accidents happen daily.

This is America, it's not a holier-than-thou attitude, it's you should have the right to do it without fear of being locked away for the rest of your life. It's not meth, it's not something that is going to make you go off mentally and kill people. If you are going to live in a nation that locks you away for smoking pot, but allows the sell of alcohol, cigarettes, and hands out pain killers like candy than you are living in a hypocritical nation. Marijuana is safer than both alcohol and cigerettes and far safer and natural then some of this crap created in labs, yet people's lives are ruined because they are sent to prison for it. I'm a reasonably smart person...I'm not perfect, but I live by certain standards and I think part of the problem with this country is giving power to gangs and drug dealers. If we make marijuana legal...our country profits instead of the bad guys. How is that not smart in a time of recession when marijuana is less threatening to the publics health than cigs, alcohol, and painkillers combined? The only problem I see would be addiction but people develop addictions off all kinds of things like video games, food, and sex and yet we aren't outlawing those things...you know why? Because again...This is America...People should be able to do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

no pot is not meth or crack but there is well documented scientific studies that pot in the long term lowers sperm counts, causes birth defects, damages the lungs, can be a "gateway" drug to other drugs, and in some individuals it is proven to lead to psychosis. dont take my word for it go read up on it. the schools need better drug education or you all would know this. that said there are 12 states that allow pot use for some medical conditions and i think it is beneficial for those conditions so i would approve its use under the care of a physician for those conditions in all 50 states. but i dont think its ok for everyone to just start becoming a pot head or a drunk or obese or any other addictive behavior to deal with life's problems. sure its all natural but so are belladonna and arsenic. now i respect all of you that disagree to have the right to disagree with me and i hope that you will all be adults and not spiral down into name calling if we are going to discuss this as adults. i think this is a good topic to discuss, worthy of grown ups discussing, much better than bashing kids and teenagers for their life choices.

if you've never heard of car wrecks because of pot then you've just not heard of it. don't twist the facts to suit yourself.

if alcohol is bad, how about drinking lighter fluid? breast cancer is bad, so you'd rather have liver cancer? get my point?

what does one have to do with the other.
