Do you support the legalization of Marijuana?

Yes! Get rid of the underground economy and tax it.

It will decrease illegal drug sponsorship and give more $$s in taxes. Plus people needing the pain relief will have it at hand when needed. If this society is allowed to gobble pills like candy then they should also be allowed to smoke a darned plant if they wat to.

the question should be framed "Should marijuana remain illegal? The question americans should be asking themselves is do the benefits outweigh the costs and that make a rational decision.
It probably reduces consumption, a little bit, although truth be told if you want to smoke it, you'll find it or grow it yourself. And chances are you will continue to smoke it if busted, just be more cautious about it.
Diverts law enforcement from what should be more serious activities.
makes criminals of a large percentage of Americans, many who work, pay taxes, etc breeding secrecy, mistrust among millions of americans.
makes drug pushers (the big guys) rich so naturally they will continue. The crimes of these drug cartels are well known. Make it illegal and the incentive is gone and the drug cartels will move on to something else or fade away but at least we won't be feeding their coffers.
Is pot abused by some? of course. Should people be penalized for operating a car under the influence, absolutely. But that's when a person's right to smoke is trumped by other's people's right to life.
At the very least, decriminalize it.
In areas such as these, it is always better to err on the side of protecting people's rights to exercise their freedoms. There are many countries who don't (Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia...you get the picture)
The hypocrisy exhibited by so many on this issue is alarming. How many people tonight (white collar, blue collar, priests, housewives, PTA members, social workers, churchgoers,etc...) will go home tonight and have a couple beers, glass of wine to "unwind"...but that's different, right? But if the same people smoke a joint they are somehow different...
Unfortunately too many people are simpletons and as history has proven time and time again, ignorance prevails.
The only people who at least have a consistent philosophy are those who want to ban all mind altering drugs, including alcohol. I think these people should MYOB but this crowd isn't exactly known for their tolerance or nuanced thinking.
Alcohol is a drug, period. There aren't many educated people who if they think about will dispute that.
As an employer, I would much prefer an employee who smoked a joint the night before, then someone who got drunk. Statistics are out there and the devastation caused by alcohol far surpasses pot, and all other illegal drugs combined. unfortunately meth heads and junkies make the news and that's what the uneducated base their decisions on.
In closing, a friend of mine's kid was arrested on a pot charge. Thousands of dollars later, public shame and humiliation, increased tension between parents and their offspring, and what good was served. Nothing. Will the kid stop smoking it? Doubtful and if he does, certainly there are better ways of incentivizing. The kid should have been at best fined $50 and sent home and his parents notified. Unfortunately the law prevailed.

You can't over dose on it. It's easy to control and keep out of the hands of children. It is not addictive. The taxes could build new schools and a new rec center in 5 years.
