DEATHS PER YEAR

ALCOHOL: 400,000+
TOBACCO: 100,000+
BATHTUBS:~1,000
ASPRIN:~500
MARIJUANNA: 0

MARIJUANNA COMPETES VERY VERY WELL WITH COTTON. MARIJUANNA COMPETES VERY WELL WITH THE BIG PHARMACY COMPANY'S PAIN KILLERS. MARIJUANNA COMPETES VERY WELL WITH OIL.

Now you know the truth about marijuanna. It has never killed anyone to date. It just competes very well with some entrenched big money businesses. They all lobby and spend lots of money to keep this awesome plant illegal.

MARIJUANNA LAWS ARE JUST ONE MORE OF VERY MANY DECEPTIVE MOVES BY OUR GOVERNMENT.

Well being that I smoke it ofcourse I want it legal. And for those who support keeping it illegal grow up! I have drank alcohol many times and done dumb things while drunk never have I done anything stupid while stoned other then eat a box of twinkies! Alcohol is way worse and way more of a problem!

At least decriminalize possession, christ. Getting pulled over while totally straight and having your vehicle searched for "probable cause" should not result in drug charges.

But yes, full on legalization is preferred.

It is not toxic enough to cause an overdose, besides throwing sick and innocent people in jail for medicinal or recreational use and lieing to our kids about it does more harm than good !

If people actually researched on marijuana then they would see how innocent this drug is. Be above the ignorance.

I see no reason why it should have been illegal in the first place. There is more important things to wory about in this state other than if someone decides to get lit. Legalizing and taxing it is probably the best idea to help get this state some money it doesn't have.

As a sufferer of CF, with chronic bouts of pancreatitis, I've been down just about every traditional treatment path known to modern science, from local hospitals like Rush to the Mayo Clinic, in an attempt to at least alleviate my suffering, since a cure is still unknown.

The vast majority of what is offered to people like me are derivatives of opiates, in one form or another, which may be fine for acute/short-term problems. For many of us though, those drugs are too harsh and make our condition much worse.

After years of trying different things with little success, I took the advice from a fellow sufferer on a CF support group and asked my MD to prescribe Cesamet.(I'm not even going to get into the process of getting off of opiates like Fentanyl, that is a story in & of itself).

For those of you who are not pharmacists, the active ingredient in Cesamet (Nabilone) is THC that has been synthesized in a lab. It's terribly expensive, and carries that irrational social stigma with it because of what it is, but you know what? It works, both myself and my MD are satisfied with its results, and it has (finally) provided me with some semblance of that "quality of life" I hear so much about.

Now my question is, if THC (active ingredient of cannabis) has no known medical uses (aka Schedule I), why would they bother to put all that effort into making it in a lab, putting it in pill form, all those trials to prove its efficacy... I'm not an medical expert, however my background is engineering so I have a tendency to expect logic and practicality when presented with a problem.

Please present me with your justification of why I should suffer as collateral damage in this so-called "War on Drugs" when all of the boilerplate talking points are in direct contradiction with medical opinion.

PS: When you see me park in a handicapped space, please try not to look down your nose at me. Some conditions are "invisible" and do not require an awkward display of wheelchair maneuvering to validate my needs.

Firstly, it should be legalized. Secondly, it should not be consumed by smoking, as smoking anything is always damaging to your body. Thirdly, using any chemical to alter your mood is just not smart, healthy, or safe on many levels. Finally, comparing marijuana abuse to any other chemical abuse as an argument for justification is immature, unreasonable, and a form of denial. Medical use of derivatives is controversial, but should be a choice made by the doctor and patient.
