if someone can come home and drink a beer or glass of wine then they should also be able to come home and have a joint if they want. No harm and we can get a lot of revenue

We can legalize it (thus relieving our overcrowded prisons), standardize it (thus saving lifes lost thru adulterated substance), tax it (thus raising revenue), and put illegal dealers out of business. It will also create new jobs as stores open to sell it. Tobacco and alcohol are BOTH more lethal, but are legal. Many medical problems, such as cancer pain, can be aided by medical marijuana. My own father (now deceased) smoked it for his cancer.

The government needs to do a better job at convincing the American voters if they want to continue on with this failed prohibition of marijuana. They claim that the 'plant' is dangerous and deadly, yet they can't provide any proof or credible evidence to back these claims up. If you want to know the FACTS about marijuana then click on the link below.

Uruguay aims to legalize, oversee marijuana market

MONTEVIDEO (Reuters)- Uruguay's government unveiled a proposal on Wednesday to legalize and monitor the marijuana market, arguing that the drug is less harmful than the black market where it is trafficked.

President Jose Mujica's leftist government will send a bill to Congress shortly on this as part of a package of measures to fight crime in the South American country.

The government will also urge that marijuana sales be legalized worldwide, Defense Minister Eleuterio Fernandez Huidobro said, adding the measure could discourage the use of so-called hard drugs.

Marijuana consumption is already legal in Uruguay.

"We want to fight against two different things: one is drug consumption and the other is drug trafficking. We think the ban on certain drugs is creating more problems in society than the drug itself," the minister told a news conference.

"Homicides related to settling scores have increased and that's a clear sign that certain phenomena are appearing in Uruguay that didn't exist before," he said.

The bill would legalize and set rules for the production and sale of marijuana but would not allow people to grow the plant for their own personal use. The government did not give details on how the new system would work.

In Uruguay about $75 million changes hands each year in the illegal marijuana trade, according to official estimates.

As of last year, 20 percent of people between 15 and 65 years old reported they had smoked marijuana at least once and about 5 percent of respondents were habitual users.

The proposal to legalize the marijuana market is one of 15 crime-fighting measures that include tougher penalties for police corruption, crack-cocaine trafficking and juvenile offenders.

IS THE USE OF MARIJUANA ANY WORSE THAN THE DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES?
Alcohol is a food and is metabolized by the body to provide energy; the end products are disposed of by the body. However, a psychopharmacologist said; "Marijuana is very potent drug, and thebiggest mistake, we make is comparing it to alcohol," "Molecule for molecule, THC is 10,000 times stronger than alcohol in its ability to produce mild intoxication---THC is removed slowly from the body, and many months are required to recover from its effects." (Executive Health Report, October 1977, p. 3) The creator knows how we are made, and his Word permits moderate use of alcoholic beverages.(Ps. 104:15; 1 Tim 5;23) But he also strongly condemns immoderate consumption of alcohol, just as he comdemns gluttony.- Prov. 23:20, 21; 1 Cor. 6:9,10;.
This is more medical bullshit. THC is processed in the brain by CB1 & CB2 receptor cells. Your body uses THC the same way it uses an apple: it identifies the benefits and uses them while expelling the waste. ALSOoooo, all studies that labeled marijuana a carcinogen were done irresponsibly by biased laboratories. The leading argument for marijuana being carcinogenic comes from a study where lab monkeys were continuously bombarded by marijuana smoke for 30 min 12 TIMES A DAY. The scientists also did not remove any seeds or stems, and vaporized whole plants during the experiment.
So ya, if you burn through 6 oz. of shitty bud a day you might get cancer. But not nearly as fast as if you drank a handle of vodka & smoked a carton of cigs a day, and those are both legal.
Marijuana is not to be feared ppl.

I'm of college age and just found out that I have a brain tumor, so instead of doping myself up on my 30 count prescription of lortab 10 Each WEEK (don't know how people can even take that many anyways) and becoming a pill popping crackhead... I smoke gods only visible gift to man kind. It soothes the pressure in my cranium and allows me to actually function like a productive member of society, without which I would be laying in bed all day wishing my brain would just explode already. I could use a new hook though.. Lol.
