To me, the legalization of marijuana would be equivalent to the alcohol situation. They have a lot of similar effects and should be viewed as such. Let the government get their "cut" and tax it...let them place similar restrictions on its use as they do for alcohol. But however they want to go about it - legalize it. We are the land of the "free" and yet we are having our liberties eroded daily. If we discovered that smoking maple leaves caused the same reaction as marijuana would we then say it is illegal to grow maple trees? No...it is a natural plant and as such it should not be illegal. I am of the mind that too many people are worried about what other people are doing. If you don't want to smoke pot...don't. If you don't want to own a gun...don't. If you don't want to visit a prostitute...don't. If you don't want to indulge in liquor...don't. But puritanical views are long since gone and society should not have a say in what an individual is allowed to do. If it doesn't hurt anyone else then leave the people alone!!!

Marijuana smoke contains three times the amount of tar found in tobacco smoke and 50 percent more carcinogens. Needless to say it makes you high (dumb). We do not need more impaired drivers on our streets, we do not need even more harmful smoke that even none smokers have to breath, we do not need more people developing health problems. For the safety of our country we do not need another drug to be legal. We have enough with alcohol, tobacco and other ways in which people like to dumb themselves and thus become a danger for the rest of the population.

you got to be kidding me,above the leagalization of it how many millions of folks do you think smoke it regardless its illeagle?i know folks that have been smokeing marijuana for over 50 years and they dont go blowing smoke on the non smokers and their health is much better than those whom drank for all these years, its just too easy for some folks to find the negetive in something that they dont prefer, but had they chose to let folks do what they enjoy and to calm themselves versus takeing perscribed addictive pills along with all the side effects that come along with it,awe this could go on forever so i'll stop here,

whaooh,,they dont have simular effects and should not be viewed as such,if folks were to take a couple hits of a joint mabey they would put down the bottle and stop killing your friends and family, ive seen folks do much better at their work after takeing a couple hits than they did before takeing a couple of drags,no i dont intice it espeacally in some work areas, but im sure the thought of a Dr.doing surgery while under the influence of pot would be a scary situation but in reality what are they on that you are unaware of,and we know that the wine they drank the night before is leagle but their not going to tell you that.

Okay, I'm back. It wasn't the pizza dude, it was my neighbor at the door; apparently I got stoned on Saturday and dropped a deuce in his hot-tub.

My bad.

I do not smoke marijuana but i believe it should be legal because it causes so much conflict in and out of the boarder. Alcohol is much worse for you and marijuana is just a plant. This plant im sure was here before we as a human race were

That's a hell of an argument there Danny Boy.

If we just did away with the border, we wouldn't have those problems, right?

Should we also legalize cocaine? It causes private wars in South America. How about Heroin? The Taliban relies on money from the growning of poppies (which are used to make herion) in Afghanistan.

While we're at it, why don't we decriminalize everything?

Come up with a big-boy argument or just stay inside and play with your toys.

Heroin and Cocaine are "just plants" too. LSD is fungus. Mushrooms are fungus. Using your argument, they should all be legal.

If it becomes legal, Dan Carver won't be able to sell it anymore, so of course he is against legalize it.

LOL !!!
I can't believe people are so uneducated about pot. It's a natural pain reliever ,it helps control anxiety and insomnia and research shows it even kills cancer cells.
It's effects are nothing like alcohol ,it just chills you out,you don't go nuts and beat your spouse and kids. It's non-addictive,that said, anything can become addictive even food, but I'm talking about moderate use.
It has none of the horrible side effects of prescription pain and psych meds.
It doesn't have to be smoked, legal weed comes in brownies, cookies ,tea, and candy form.
People use it anyways and our jails and prisons are over crowded with people being incarcerated just for smoking a joint.Look at the tax dollars it would save and generate. Plus,it would free up jail space for real criminals.
It would bring in tourists just as it has in the NL. Weed related jobs such a head shops, growers, processors, coffe e shops would spring up all over.
Legalizing it would hurt the dealers and smugglers.
It would do more for our country to legalize it than keeping it illegal is doing.

You may be right, however, you don't smoke a "pack" of joints per day, so, that means that a weed-smoker who smokes one joint per day versus a cigarette-smoker who smokes 20 per day is getting only 15% as much tar.
