We need to look long term. Yes, it will cost more now but healthcare will be cheaper in the long run.

Please though don't even think of taxing medicare beneficiaries to fix the system; it will only further burden and upset a lot of retired seniors who are a very active and vocal minority resulting in ending any chance of meaningful health care reform. Health insurance that is provided by employers though should be taxed just like any other employee benefit such as meals, transportation, housing, and tips. The tax shouldn't be on the employer but the employee since it is a benefit offered by working there.
