I suffer from malignant hypertension, have had a heart attack, a stroke, and was run over in a pedrestrian/vehicle accident. As a result I am disabled and receive SSDI. Because I am disabled and under 62 I do not qualify for medicare. Because I am disabled, but do not have a child under the age of 18 I do not qualify for medicaid. My insurance was cancelled last year after my husband passed away. I fall between a huge cravass in the "government run" medical programs and cannot see a doctor unless I pay out of pocket. On a low income SSDI I cannot afford doctors and my required meds to survive. I went to one of the state sponsored clinics and was told that all I qualify for is a mammogram... which I do not need, I need a doctor!!! The government cannot run the programs it has now, and the requirements are so strict that unless you are pushing out a new baby every year so the government can pay your medicals, rent, utilities and food, you do not qualify for medical. And in 24 months when I do qualify for medicare, the system will be bankrupt, or cost prohibitive and I still will not have medical care. I would rather pay a private insurer than have an inept government run program. The attitude of the government is that older Americans can die from lack of care, thereby reducing the cost on the system, so they can continue to pay for the "poor" who drive a better car, have drug/smoking/alcohol habits, and do not work or contribute because they don't have to... they have "Uncle Sugar" paying for it all. I have worked all my life and paid taxes. I pay my property taxes in Texas, and yet I cannot qualify for any medical programs that are in place, how will anyone who contributes to the system thru paying taxes ever qualify for a "new" government program, when only the people who suck on the government teet and have for generations ever will!

The government cannot run anything in place now, be it medical plans, education or anything else, they only find ways keep themselves employed. And the paperwork they are trying to shove down this country's throat will guarantee "they" have jobs and medical whether the rest of us do or not. Who will bail out this country when we crash???
