The whole thing scares me to death! Why can't they leave those who have healthcare alone and set up more help for those who can't get it? Medicare and all the gov sponsored help are crap now, why do they think they can make it work for everyone! It is scary!!!

I don't want to pay more for health insurance. I would prefer a reform bill that would reduce overall medical costs.

I like my health care. Why don't they try tort reform, it won't save enough but it's a start, get rid of the illegal aliens that are abusing the system and regulate rates. Why ruin what works for most working folks to give more of my hard earned money to welfare people?

If congress has bankrupted social security and medicare what make anyone think they can deliver health care without raising taxes and fees substantially.

I don't think it's in the best interest of the people. The health care system does need some revising, but not this way.

$8300 Government Health Insurance

According to the Congressional Budget Office
the public option premium costs for a family of
four with an income of $66000 would be $8300.

Here is a link to a letter from the Director of the
Congressional Budget Office to Rep. Charles Rangel
dated Nov.2 that contains a table outlining the cost
of the public option.

Here is a link to the CBO blog providing more information
and examples.

The blame for the system going bust is because of the retirement of the BABY BOOMERS, so it is said. This may play a SMALL part, but I think that there are more causes. Now MANY BABY BOOMERS may not be able to retire!! Thank Congress for this!!
Reasons for system going bust
1. There is a loophole in the system. An unwed parent can get government benefits for all of his/her children. This benefit should be limited to just ONE child!! Everyone can make ONE mistake, but after that, the government (TAXPAYERS) should NOT support any children thereafter.
2. Thos that can work, but choose not to, should get NO government assistance!!

This is a BRILLIANT proposition. I am just surprised that not a single person in Congress thought of this....oh, but oh, it is under 2,000 pages and most can understand it. Maybe that is the reason...LOL!

The money saved in these areas can then be re-allocated to the health care system at no more costs to anyone. The TAXPAYERS who have paid into the system and deserve assistance (MEDICARE) after they retire can be surer that they will have at least a little assistance after they retire, if they can retire. Why do we always see cuts to MEDICARE, but none to MEDICAID?

JUST A THOUGHT FOR ELECTION TIME ;)

We may be Democrats, Republican, or Other, but guess what, most of us reading and commenting here are the Government (TAXPAYERS) Congress works for us!!

I would think that most member of Congress if not in agreement with this should become a lobbyist for big business, like many members of Congress do after they leave Congress. We have at least three from Louisiana that are now lobbyists for big business (now can you see who they really care about?), soon to be at least two more, come next election!!

THE NEXT TIME ELECTION COMES UP; THIS IS THE ONE THING TO REMEMBER!!! A YES VOTE ON THIS ONE IS A DEFINATE VOTE AGAINST THEM!!

Just remember folks, in order to vote AGAINST someone in a primary election in closed states, like we here in Louisiana now are, you must belong to the same party affiliate, so you might just have to change your party a few months before the primary election, then change back after the primary election. This way at least the candidate in question will not make it into the runoff.

Just go to the REGISTRAR OF VOTERS website.

Just change your party affiliation a couple of months before the primary. Because, sometimes it is more important to vote someone out of office than to vote someone into office.

Republicans would get their asses handed to them in 2012. The American people would be sick of electing our nation's worst business apologists.

BUT they'd also be dismayed that Obama was so compromising, that he didn't seize the oil industry or at least start a moratorium against more oil drilling after the first one.

You would see the lowest turnout in American history. The Green Party would have its highest showing so far and the Socialist Party since Eugene V. Debs or maybe it could even make a new record.

This could be the biggest realignment since the Whig Party went down and 4 years later it could be a race between the Democrats and the Greens, the Democrats and the Socialists, or the Democrats between some kind of Green-Socialist Coalition Party they form, and the lefter party(Greens or Socialists) could actually win especially since a lot of enthusiastic former nonvoters would want to give it a chance and because some ex-Republicans would be voting Democrat as "lesser of two evils" moving the Democrats more to the right than they already are and turning some old Democrats into Greens or Socialists.

I do not want Obama Care or Obama.

If you folks want a kick try this. I retired about 2 years ago, I figured after paying into the system for 48 years I would screw it over for the few years I have left. I went into Social Security figuring I would be stagering around in there with other 65 plus people and when I walked in I could not believe it. What a scam. 90% of the people in there were under 50 and looked a hell of a lot healthier than myself. If this goverment tries to take my soc. sec. I will be p.o. Worked all my life along with others and there are a bunch of leaches sucking the monies out of the system and our goverment lets them do it. I am damn sure I could find some work for these lazy s.o.b. to do.

We must rally to the aid of the insurance companies...their sky-high premiums and rationing of healthcare is how it needs to be...anyone who disagrees is a Socialist, anti-American, a terrorist supporter, etc.

This is good, real good. You are correct anyone who does not want to stop the insurance companies, drug companies, and medical manufactures from reaping profits and breaking America is labeled Socialist. LOL Oh and #37 and falling, to want improvement here is labeled Socialism TOO. It is real amusing to hear those who preach we have the best health care. Again LOL #37 while spending more per person than the majority of the 36 that rank above us is far from the best. The #1 France spends 40% less per a person than us. The list of countries with better health care than the US: France, Italy, San Marino, Andorra, Malta, Singapore, Spain, Oman, Austria, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Monaco, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Columbia, Sweden, Cyprus, Germany, Saudi Arabia, U. A. E., Israel, Morocco, Canada, Finland, Australia, Chili, Denmark, Dominica, Costa Rica.

So did you ID them, you know they were 50 why? Really? Maybe they just all looked much better than you because they were not whiners.

I would prefer a bill that brings down the overall costs of health care.
