I do not support any bill that does not contain single payer or a public option.

I think our country would benefit a lot from some sort of health reform.....

Its about time. I mean you could be a guilty criminal and still legally be granted a defense lawyer. no basic health care for citizens would be like denying public school systems to our citizens, it seems unbelievable.

They've managed to take a simple need and produce a ridiculously complicated, bloated mess!

Anything is possible. I am not saying it wont be without problems that need fixing, but its a place to start. A large part of our economic mess is all of those unpaid bills at the ER that hike up Health care, Greedy Insurance and Pharmacutical companies with more emphasis on Money than healthcare. Capitalism has its place when wanting a large screen TV, but not in fixing a broken arm. No one should go into debt becouse of an Accident, Illness, or Birth complication.

Oh as far as comparing the DMV to healthcare, why dont you compare apples to apples, like the military healthcare to a new public healthcare? Speaking of DMV you have to have insurance on your car why does that not apply to your life?

Becasue you can choose to drive ... or not. Forced to have insurance means your taxed to breath. Is this America?

people are going to get sick, hurt, or be born with a financial burden on the parerents, these things are not someone is going to choose to be burdened with. when the sh*t happens(as it does in life) we are forced to go into debt, lose our house etc. that is not acceptable.

It's the best this country will ever get seeing that American citizens must compete with corporate interests for control of their own country - and always seem to get the short end of the stick. If we leave the Republicans to do it, nothing would happen (and nothing did happen while they had power) and then even greater disaster.

we already have govt run health care and rationing - it is called medicare and medicaid. if the goal is to insure everyone, then place the $11m who want it and can't afford it on medicare - why force everyone, and those who are already covered and happy with it, into one and the same plan (except for the politicians, of course). don't reinvent the wheel. fix medicare first.

The main reason it costs so much is because people dont choose to get sick or injured. When this happens and they cant afford insurance they go to the ER and cant pay there bill. that default in payment is why insurance is so expencive, its why a 15 min ambulance ride costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars, and its why the pencil pushers deny people the very insurance they need to be treated before something preventable becomes an ER visit.

The Costs of healthcare is out of control, yet everyone needs healthcare because everyone will get sick or hurt, and when this happens and that person defaults on the ER bill everyone else picks up the tab. and noone should lose their house for example because the had a condition that could have been averted if they had healthcare and prevenative care before visiting the ER. and its the right thing to do on a moral stance.

If health care is to be a government function, it should be by the state, not the feds. But it is more of an individual choice.
