We are the richest country in the world, we spend more on health care than any other country, and we are behind in health outcomes--high infant mortality and lower life expectancy than some of the 3rd world countries. We subsidise everyone and everything else in the world, why can't we take care of out own?

Where can I find information that proves this? Can't find any. Then maybe we can discuss it.

absolutely...people need health insurance in case of hospitalization and without it a huge bill would arise. Been there.

Everyone deserves health care. Universal health care is a must, we need the public option. For those who are against it. Our educational system has a public option. Did/do your kids/grandkids attend public school? Or do/did they attend a private for profit school?

So what we are looking at for how much premiums will be.

The FPL (Federal Poverty Level) for a family of 4 is $22,050. According to the chart on page 137 of the bill, they fall in the 3% range and will pay 661.5 a year for their premium + a co-pay for each doctor visit.

Ah, but wait it gets better....or worse?

Lets say your family of 4 makes 2x the FPL (Federal Poverty Level) or $44,100 a year. This family falls in the 7% range.

Thier annual premium.....$4,630. Or $385 per month! Ouch!

Thats money these families can't spend stimulating the economy.

And this family of 4 makes upwards of $55,000 a year the rate become 9%
$66k...10%
$77k...11% and thats the top percentage.

So Family of 4 that makes a combined income (2 working adults) of $77,000 a year, premiums will be $8,470 per year or $705 per month.

No one over the FPL will be eligible for gov't assistance. thats all calulated in with the precentages.

How's that for HOPE & CHANGE?

Experience in America and abroad has convincingly proven that government is unable to run any service efficiently. The result of Pelosi/O'bomba power grab will be skyrocketing cost and inferior service.

I agree healthcare needs a serious overhaul, but the fact that the government has their hands in this and they themselves are exempt just proves its an accident waiting to happen. Corrupt, and just ads to Obamas "end of America campaign" he has in store for us.

some people think that government is inherently 'evil'

too bad for them

The government is already in the 'business' of healthcare- state governments too- county governments as well- so is the military- military hospitals, the VA, etc etc...Medicare, Medicaid

Some of you think for profit hospitals are your friends,

Maybe you think BlueCross, Cigna, Anthem, HCA, Healthsouth, Baptist Systems, Methodist, Prudential, AIG, and a host of others are 'looking out for you too'!

Maybe you also have been watching too many televised commercials by GEICO, ALLSTATE, VIAGRA, CIALIS, LIPITOR, and a host of others

You should be able to recognize who is really screwing you, day in and day out ! if not, you are one stupid individual

Without government so-called interference, we would not have protections from bad, ineffective drugs, or child-labor laws, voting rights for women, voting rights for blacks, flight safety standards and enforcement, consumer protections, safe workplaces, mine safety, an Interstate Roadway network !

I don't think the 'private sector' is simply to be 'trusted' willynilly.

There must be a balance ! why ? private people and corporations will screw you over, and not blink twice ! anybody remember AIG ?, Madoff?, Prudential here in FLorida ??, Goldman Sachs ?? or how about some of these fine fine fine local BANKERS, real estatewhores, mortgage brokers, or your favorite credit card issurers........how about your car salesman ??
