Service Employees International Union (SEIU) local 1199 in New York City allowed a celebration of the life of the late socialist Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez to be held in their offices Friday.

The event, organized by the pro-Chavez Bolivarian Circle of New York, was held last Friday at 6:30 PM and promoted on Facebook.

The event’s Facebook announcement declared that the event was to be held in the auditorium of the 1199 SEIU building on 43rd street in New York City.

Im sure ruk is still grieving losing a great dictator. Liberals have never seen a dictator they didn't love. Watch out for the ones here in the USA who want to make Obama President-For-Life. SEIU would celebrate the passing of a dog turd if it were deemed a socialist event.

"Hey Fido, go tell Castro, and the other Schmo (Sean Penn), too, while you're at it..."

Most educated Americans vaguely remember that the amendment granting women the right to vote was passed by Congress in 1919 and ratified by the states in 1920. But the number of people who know anything about the forty-year legislative war that preceded that victory is smaller than the audience of MSNBC. That war began in 1878, when a California Republican named A.A. Sargent introduced the 19th Amendment only to see it voted down by a Democrat-controlled Congress. It finally ended four decades later, when the Republicans won landslide victories in the House and the Senate, giving them the power to pass the amendment despite continued opposition from most elected Democrats -- including President Woodrow Wilson, to whom the suffragettes frequently referred as "Kaiser Wilson."

First of all we did not have a Democratic Congress in 1878. We had a split Congress with the Democrats controlling the House and the Republicans controlling the Senate. Moreover it wasn't the Democrats who voted it down. A.A. Sargent was a member of the 1878 Republican Senate and his bill never even got out of the Senate's own committee.

"The first such amendment was offered in the Senate in 1868, but it got nowhere. Ten
years later, the Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections held hearings on a renewed
proposal. As suffragists pled their cause in the packed hearing room, committee members
rudely read newspapers, or stared at the ceiling. Then they rejected the amendment."

Ten years later from 1868 would have been 1878. In 1878 the Senate was controlled by the
Republicans. That was a Republican Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections whose
members rudely read newspapers, or stared at the ceiling and then rejected the amendment.

And the Republicans had plenty of chances to pass it during those 40 years. For half of those 40 years they controlled both the House AND the Senate, including 16 straight years from 1895 to 1911.

Chuck Hagel, the new defense secretary, bumbling through a meeting,”:
He says we’re going to put 14 new missile-defense sites in California and the West Coast because North Korea has threatened to launch a nuclear strike on America.
But then he adds they need approval from the Environmental Protection Agency first!

Medical claims costs -- the biggest driver of health insurance premiums -- will jump an average 32 percent for Americans' individual policies under President Obama's overhaul, according to a study by the nation's leading group of financial risk analysts.

The report could turn into a big headache for the Obama administration at a time when many parts of the country remain skeptical about the Affordable Care Act. The estimates were recently released by the Society of Actuaries to its members.

Orders for durable goods up, unemployment down last month, stocks hitting record highs, one war ended and another set to end. Did we mention GDP up 11% since bush left office. Facts are making you look lite an ass tardho.

Those things would have happened no matter who was the President. Like TV Man says, the economy doesn't depend on the President.

Gun Town USA has been murder free for 25 years...as of 2007 :

"In March 1982, 25 years ago, the small town of Kennesaw – responding to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill.– unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, despite dire predictions of “Wild West” showdowns and increased violence and accidents, not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender."

Any of you that can do it would be wise to move to Texas before 2014. The lone star state may be the only state left standing after that.

Yeah, SurfOmaha i agree, health care policy should be reform according to give more values to patients. On the other hand, 60 to 70 percent Americans are showing satisfactory remarks on the policy. so, it can't be reform totally, it may be amended accordingly.

Let's repeat history: The Obama administration is engaged in a broad push to make more home loans available to people with weaker credit, an effort that officials say will help power the economic recovery but that skeptics say could open the door to the risky lending that caused the housing crash in the first place.

It's too bad we don't have any real life experience to determine how this may work out. LOL...

Cancer clinics across the country have begun turning away thousands of Medicare patients, blaming the sequester budget cuts.

Oncologists say the reduced funding, which took effect for Medicare on April 1, makes it impossible to administer expensive chemotherapy drugs while staying afloat financially.

Patients at these clinics would need to seek treatment elsewhere, such as at hospitals that might not have the capacity to accommodate them.

If Obama is so concerned about things like this happening, why hasn't he produced a budget? Why is taking golfing trips and fundraising trips. He needs to glue his bottom to a chair and come up with a workable budget. He doesn't want to because that would require him to think and make tough choices he would then be responsible for.

We can't afford cancer care and 1.3 billion bullets for Janet Napolitano's civilian army.

The saddest part of this entire political era is that Americans keep electing these stooges who are owned by Monsanto (GMO), big banks, big pharma and military contractors. Welcome to our emerging progressive lib idiocracy!
Cheers!

Things just keep getting worse for the American worker, and by implication US economy, where as we have shown many times before, it pays just as well to sit back and collect disability and various welfare and entitlement checks, than to work .The best manifestation of this: the number of people not in the labor force which in March soared by a massive 663,000 to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer even looking for work. This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012, when the BLS did its census recast of the labor numbers. And even worse, the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3%- the lowest since 1979! But at least it helped with the now painfully grotesque propaganda that the US unemployment rate is "improving."

And actually dumb A@@, they are just trying to prevent someone from entering your home or your child's school with a 100 round clip. You know like in Newtown, or the theater in Aurora, or the shooting in Arizonan to mention a few. From 1994 to 2004, after Reagan's bill, the one he lobbied for passed none of this happened. Reagan was right and the same basic bill is what we are talking about. No one is trying to take your guns. A nuke is an arm, suppose you want one, FOOL.

Obamanomics: 90 Million Americans Out of Work

Obama’s response: Everything is just hunky dory. Putting sugar on a shit sandwich for public consumption.

A large majority of that 90 million are able bodied people who have never worked, don’t want to, and will never work.

The entitlement culture runs the gamut from Francis Fox-Piven’s ideology of violent revolution for ‘redistribution of wealth’, to free internet access for ‘nappy-headed children’ to illegal aliens, to the union thugs.
This is quintessential entitlement arrogance:

A man who won $2 million on a Michigan lottery show has told a TV station that he still uses food stamps.

Boston: Should we ban pressure cookers? Obama's counter-terrorism team does not have much of a record with the attack in Benghazi. Let's hope that this time around they won't spend weeks on a wild goose chase about a YouTube video.

Maybe Bush did it? Remember all the blame the liberals spit at Bush? is it fair to say it was Obama's fault?

Leftist sympathizer Matthews on MSNBC attempted to link the Boston terrorist bombing to the Tea Party, as did other Obama cohorts. Obama has been reluctant to admit it was terrorism because he then may actually have to act and be accountable. Obama adviser Axelrod tried to link it to Obama opponents who are angry on Tax Day that Obama raised their taxes.

Benghazi, Boston, Bill Ayers all terrorism! Glad I can clear that up for you Mr. President, David Axelrod and Chris Matthews.

President Obama's consistent reluctance to call violent acts of terrorism "terrorism" is becoming increasingly more disturbing, with him taking a full day to refer to the Boston bombing as an "act of terror."
When will the YouTube video come out?
