I seriously disagree with the government taking control of the health care system, for many reasons, the biggest being that anything the government puts its hands on fails gloriously.

Really? What company do you work for? My husband and I purchase our health insurance from a local office and pay the enourmous fee due to the fact that neither of us have it provided by our employeers, and ours is fine. It's Blue Cross and it's the same as it's always been!

The United States is the only so called "first world nation" that does not have social medicine. People die in this country everyday because they don't have access to health care. I really don't see the problem.

You people do realize that health care is only this expensive because insurance companies control the market and care about nothing but financial reward.

These are Countries that offer universal or social health care.

The World Health Organization ranks the US@ 37th in the world in quality of health care. Behind, some true economic giants such as Malta and Cyprus.

So many of the heroes of 9-11 are being denied Medical Care because they are too sick to work, Insurance companies won't step up and continue their coverage at an affordable rate, and the government has no control over any of this. Yeop Universal Health care sucks.

Serious. I am retired and received notice from former employer that effective January 1 my present plan would no longer be offered. I don't remember the exact wording of the notice, but it was because of what's coming down the pike.

12. Nobody wants some soulless Washington bureaucrat making decisions about their healthcare. That job is best left to soulless corporate bureaucrats who are paid to find ways to deny coverage to people who are on the expensive end of the health care bell curve. That's capitalism, baby.

13. Obama wants to kill your grandma and special needs child and this is really just a way to get birth control and abortion into our schools.

There you go, thirteen conservative reasons against universal health care. Ought to be good enough, eh? If you watched Fox news and read the World Net Daily you would know all of this already.:-)

Hope you like waiting for treatment. I have a few friends who live in Canada and they have told me they have had to wait numerous times, sometimes up to a year, to receive certain medical procedures. Not just minor medical procedures either, things like MRI's, CAT Scans, cancer treatment, etc etc. If that isnt bad enough, they have this scoring system based on your age and present health condition as to whether or not you will even receive treatments and how long you have to wait to get them. The older and more unhealthy you are the lower on the list they put you. They are told what doctors and hospitals they can go to and what specialists they can see.

I will agree that our health care system needs some improvement, but at what cost? Do you think that our government wouldnt run our health care system to turn a profit? I dont think letting our government run our health care system is the answer. Look at their track record of running everything else. How about letting insurance companies compete across state lines? How about some tort reform? There are quite a few ways to possibly fix health care, but the Democrats just dont want you and I to know that. They want you to think that, just like everything else, they can run it better than we can. Im not some Rush Limbaugh or Glen Beck book thumping Right Wing nut, but I do believe that we Americans can do things just as good as the government can, if not better. I choose to control my own life and not let the government do it for me, which seems to be the thing to do these days.

Phil: Yeah, I agree. I do remember waiting for certain things back home, not anything emergent mind you, but I do remember having to wait for surgery when I blew out my shoulder playing college ball for about a month. But it wasn't an emergency, I could function etc etc.

My problem is that the health care system is so defunct that it needs a major overhaul and the only solution I can see is a total reorganization.

Oh and maybe it would be a good idea for you to look at the modalities currently in use in the UK and France. They are both economically strong nations, both have universal health care, and both offer prompt service.

You are at war over oil pure and simple. If you think any different I would be happy to point out a half dozen different conflicts involving religious beliefs Uncle Sam has not deigned important enough to get involved in, although since there is no oil, I can understand the delay.
