This should increase riders of the bus and trains!

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)— A legal fight over freedom of speech is spilling into New York’s subway tunnels. A sign about “Jihad” is set to debut next week. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it crosses the line, but a judge disagrees.

WCBS 880′s Paul Murnane On The Story

On the region’s subways and buses, most ads we see don’t get much attention. But that may change with a pro-Israel ad that will soon grace MTA property which reads:“In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad.”

The ad is a clear swipe against radical Muslims.

“It’s going to create problems for no reason, you know?” Maguid El Ghazzawi of Astoria told CBS 2’s Sean Hennessey on Wednesday night.

At a Manhattan Mosque, not all were pleased with the fact the ad will soon go public.

“It is negative, not positive,” Harlem’s Abdus Khan said.

“I think it is something stupid. For somebody they are very ignorant,” El Ghazzawi said.

For almost a year, the MTA fought the running of the ad, saying the words “savage” and “jihad” demean a group, but in the lawsuit a federal judge ruled that barring the ad violated the First Amendment and the “….fundamental importance of the free flow of ideas…”

“What the court said,‘no demeaning’ is too general a phrase,” said Leon Friedman, a constitutional law expert at Hofstra University.“Government just can’t say ‘I like this ad, I don’t like that ad.’ They just can’t do that.”

While the MTA said its hands are tied, the ad’s sponsor celebrated the victory.

“Political speech is the most protected speech,” said Pamela Geller of the American Freedom Defense Initiative.

Geller said the ad isn’t anti-Muslim, but a response to an anti-Israeli ad the MTA ran last year.

Service members are not exempt from income tax:
"Retired pay, like other income, is subject to Federal income taxation unless wholly or partially exempted by statute. The Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Cleveland (DFAS-CL) computes the amount to be withheld from retired pay and withholds this amount. Every year, no later than the 25th of January, DFAS-CL will send you an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 1099-R which will show all the taxable retired pay paid and the amount of tax withheld during the calendar year."
"Taxable Gross Income
In general, if you are a member of the Armed Forces, most of your pay is included in gross income for federal income tax purposes. All gross income is taxable. You probably receive basic pay, special pay, bonuses and other payments. All of this counts as gross income, unless the pay or bonus is for service or re-enlistment while in a combat zone. "
Furthermore, you grossly oversimplified the remark he made. There's a lot more to it than just being exempt from income tax. Clearly he states that these people are dependent on the government, they feel like victims of the economy and society, they believe they're entitled to free health care, free housing, food etc.
The quote: "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.... These are people who pay no income tax....[M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
Romney abides by the law. If the IRS isn't concerned,I can't be concerned. Why? Romney isn't breaking the law, however 47 million aren't either.

I don't understand why Muslims are in an uproar over this. It only targets 'radicals', if they aren't radicals, then why are they concerned? Simple, there is no such thing as 'radical' Islam. The term has no defining factors, thus, it can be used to divert blame in any situation.

The rioting across the Middle East? Well, they must all be radicals.

Muslims murdering Christians men, women, and children in Africa? Well, they must all be radicals.

Putting out a hit on an American citizen? Well, the leader of Pakistan must be a radical.

Beheading a Jewish Journalist? Well, they're all radicals too.

Car bombs in Egypt? Radicals.

The list is endless. Muslims need to come up with a new mantra. Religion of Peace is no longer applicable, and neither is the term 'radical Islam'.

I never said Romney made such a statement. Stop putting words in my mouth for the purpose of playing gotcha. I said, I have no problem with Romney paying 14% in taxes. If the IRS doesn't care why should I. Forty seven million is merely a number Romney uses for deadbeats or people depending on government. I can't complain about them either, their acting withing the law.

I never said I thought Romney should pay more, I merely said he pays 14%, and abides by IRS rules. Nothing more needs explaining. Actually Romney sited 13.5%, yet the IRS and tax returns were 14%. Correct on the tax evasion, Romney needs to make that clear. He should separate tax fraud from the 47 million. One size doesn't fit all. Like most Republicans, Romney expects people to read between the lines. Not happening.

The Voter ID Thing

On September 25th, according to Congressional Black Caucus Chairman, Emmanuel Cleaver,“we cannot even find an instance of voter fraud” but the NAACP would disagree as it strives to keep Voter ID laws from being passed.

The NAACP is so concerned about voter rights that it has taken its case to the United Nations, claiming that “Millions of United States citizens are denied the right to vote because they have been previously convicted to a felony offense.

At a NAACP-sponsored panel, a member of its board of directors, Lorraine Miller, called upon the UN Special Rappateour “to investigate racially discriminatory elections laws” given that many felons are black and many states deny voting rights to convicted felons. The NAACP is on a tear to defeat Voter ID laws, claiming they are racially based.

At this point, between thirty-one and thirty-three States have enacted laws that require all voters to show an ID at the polls in November, depending on whether the laws are declared strict or not.

Rep. Cleaver is, shall we say, misinformed. According to a Justice Department fact sheet dated July 2, 2008, more than 140 individuals have been charged with election fraud offenses and more than a hundred have been convicted since the Attorney General’s Ballot Access and Voting initiative was launched in 2002. This is, in actuality, a fairly pathetic enforcement record.

On September 19, one day after being sued over a controversial ballot box citizenship question, Michigan Secretary of State, Ruth Johnson, said there were an estimated 4,000 non-citizens on its voter rolls of the estimated 305,000 non-citizens that live there. This is why Ms. Johnson is insisting that Michigan’s 7.34 million registered voters be asked to confirm they are citizens on Election Day in November.

The election outcome in 2000 had to be decided by the Supreme Court in Bush v. Gore and this initiated efforts to avoid a repeat by tightening voter laws to avoid all manner of fraud.

In their book,“Who’s Counting: How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats Put Your Vote at Risk”, authors John Fund and Hans Von Spakovsky, say that “Election fraud, whether it’s phony voter registrations, illegal absentee ballots, vote-buying, shady recounts, or old-fashioned ballot-box stuffing, can be found in every part of the United States, although it is probably spreading because of the ever-so-close tight red state/blue state divisions that have polarized the country and created so many close elections of late.”

“In 2012, the voter rolls in many American cities include more names than the U.S. Census listed as the total number of residents over age 18. Philadelphia’s voter rolls, for instance, have increased dramatically as the city’s population has declined.”

In 2008, following the election of Barack Obama, ACORN which engaged in widespread voter fraud had its operatives indicted in fifteen States.“At least 54 individuals who worked for ACORN have been convicted of voter fraud or related activities,” noted Fund and Von Spakovsky. It did not go unnoticed that ACORN had earlier hired Obama as a “community organizer.”

But Benjamin Jealous, the president of the NAACP asserts that blacks are the victims of “the greatest assault on voting rights…since the days of Jim Crow.” As noted, the NAACP has gone to the United Nations claiming Voter ID laws are a violation of human rights.” This is absurd. The former civil rights organization has devolved into little more than a stooge for the Democratic Party.

As Fund and Vop Spakovsky point out,“The evidence from academic studies and actual turnout in elections is overwhelming that—contrary to the shrill claims of opponents—voter ID does not suppress turnout, including among the ranks of minority, poor, and elderly voters.”

Based on the information published, the Democ-rats should keep their mouth closed on "income Tax".

Harry Reid calmly responds to Romney’s tax release:“He’s hiding something. He’s hiding something!”
posted at 5:44 pm on September 21, 2012 by Allahpundit

Reid’s original claim, of course, wasn’t that Romney was “hiding something” but that a Bain investor had told him Romney hadn’t paid income tax at all for 10 years. We found out a few hours ago that that’s not true if your 10-year window includes 2011, and if you believe PricewaterhouseCoopers, it’s not true for the period from 1990-2009, when he paid an average annual effective rate of 20.2 percent.

Time for an apology, or time to move the goalposts? Longtime Reid-watchers know the answer

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent, according to tax returns for those years released today by his campaign.

The Obamas increased the amount they gave to charity when their income rose in 2005 and 2006 after the Illinois senator published a bestselling book. The $137,622 they gave over those two years amounted to more than 5 percent of their $2.6 million income.

WASHINGTON — Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden and his wife gave an average of $369 a year to charity during the past decade, his tax records show.

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's campaign today released 10 years' worth of tax returns for Biden, a senator from Delaware, and his wife Jill, a community college instructor. The Bidens reported earning $319,853 last year, including $71,000 in royalties for his memoir, Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics.

The Bidens reported giving $995 in charitable donations last year — about 0.3% of their income and the highest amount in the past decade. The low was $120 in 1999, about 0.1% of yearly income.

Over the decade, the Bidens reported a total of $3,690 in charitable donations, or 0.2% of their income.

Nationally, more than two-thirds of U.S. households reported giving to charity in 2004, with average contributions of $2,047 that year, according to a study released in January by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. Those households who gave to charity averaged donations of about 3% of their income, says Patrick Rooney, the center's interim executive director

Folks, I would urge everyone to go and see the new movie 2016 before the election. It will show you what Obama is really about and what he is planning to do. My son told me about it.I will surely go see the movie, my son said they were jeering and yelling at the screen when he went. I do believe it is part of his plan to make us a Socialistic country by playing the race card, and the Rich VS the not so rich. The liberal media is more to blame than the fox that got into the hen house. The fox will do what is normal for them to do, but the Media left the gate to the hen house open. They were probably always that way, but hid their true agenda, and with the Socialist in the White House they do not have to hide it any more, and "Came out of the closet".
Remember, Catholic Italy is more of a Socialistic Government, and is run more by the Unions than anything else. How did this happen?
They went from Fascists to Socialists. They also used Jesus' love and forgiveness in an evil way, just as the Catholics who voted for Obama did, believing all of his lies that hid his true agenda.
Can you imagine what another 4 years will bring? We will be so deep in debt, that nothing will get us out, and using the race card and the unions, and probably mandate the curfews and military rule, which he is already to sign as soon as he can create a large enough crisis. He may do that when he loses the presidency, and refuse to turn over the reins. The American people have been asleep and blinded by his falseness and lies, and didn't pay attention to what was going on. Do you believe that a republican
Attorney General would have gotten away from anything that Eric Holder has done, and failed to do?
There is so much to get down on about what is happening to our country and our Catholic religion. There is not much we can do about our religious leaders but pray to our Lord, and ask St Michael to defend us in our battle. As far as our Country, we must get involved as much as we can to assure the Defeat of Obama.
Remember what was said in 1944 by Norman Matoon Thomas:
Norman Thomas Mattoon In his 1944 speech said:

The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism.
But, under the name of "Liberalism" they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened"
He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party.
The Democrat Party has adopted our platform!!!!

The Prediction Of Norman Mattoon Thomas has Coming True.
Today, even the most socialist Dems will still deny that their policies and the policies of Barack Obama are socialist.
Thomas was right. We Americans will never “knowingly” adopt socialism. Wake up America and save our country, for our children,
and Grand-children. Get Involved now, tomorrow may be too late to save the America we know and love.

Top Ten Reasons the media dislikes Mitt Romney:
More than 10 reasons to vote for him!

1. He has been both a successful Businessman and Governor. In both cases has repaired damaged financial debt, created fiscal responsibility and produced a surplus of jobs and finances. His main experience is running things and fixing problems successfully.

2. During his career he saved companies, the financially crippled Olympics and left the state of Massachusetts with surplus cash. He is considered by all who have worked with him to be of the highest principals, and never self promoting or arrogant.

3. He is highly intelligent, and graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, and his academic records are NOT sealed.

4. Unlike Obama, Biden, Hilary or Gore, he can't speak in a fake, southern, "black preacher voice" when necessary.

5. He's is personal friends with Benjamin Netanyahu, and will stand with Israel against the radical Muslim brotherhood and threats from Iran.

6. He has never smoked anything, snorted anything, or even drank alcohol. No scandals or skeletons in his closet, he has only had one name, one Social Security card and has only lived in the USA. He also has a history you can look up ..... Way too square for today's media.

7. He represents an America where people believe in God, don't cheat or lie, work hard, and become a SUCCESS on their own! He holds his administration to the same standard he lives buy, and fosters strength, confidence and honesty in his employees.

8. He's only been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her, including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.
He has five great sons.... none of them have police records or are in drug rehab, which may have something to do with the fact that they were raised by a stay-at-home Mom. Funny thing, the "choice" to stay home, according to the media , deserves their ridicule as not being valuable.

9. Oh yes.....he's a religious man... And everyone knows that we need to be very afraid of his very strange religion that teaches its members to be loyal to God and Family , clean-living, drug and alcohol free, patriotic, fiscally conservative, charitable, self-reliant, and honest citizens... Far worse than being a radical Muslim.......Or even a former Muslim for that matter I guess, but you'd have to ask Rev. Wright to be sure.........

10. And one last point.....pundits of the media say because of his wealth, they believe he can't relate to ordinary Americans.
I guess that's because he made that money HIMSELF, since he gave his Father's fortune to charity !
And in 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of his income....Just for comparison purposes, Obama gave 1% and Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%.

Someone you can be proud to call the President of the United States of America. Someone you would not have to worry about APOLOGIZING for America,
Land of the free, and Home of the Brave!!!!

The polls can be discouraging, too, but we've seen this in previous elections. Some pollsters showing Obama significantly ahead have a dubious history of distortion and have used their polls to manipulate instead of report public opinion. Most polls showing Obama ahead are either oversampling Democrats (using 2008 as a model instead of more recent elections) or understating Romney's lead among independents. The Weekly Standard reports that through 2004, every incumbent whose Gallup approval rating was less than 50 percent at this point -- as is Obama's -- lost. In Ohio, thousands more Republicans have ordered absentee ballots than Democrats. Also, I'm skeptical that all poll respondents are being completely candid in their positive responses about Obama for fear of being accused of racism or of being out of step with the manufactured media narrative that Obama is a likable person.

8) Obama is having some difficulty with his base, which is why his campaign is increasingly desperate and shrill. Some blacks are so angry over his liberal social views they may stay home. Some Jews are awakening to Obama's mistreatment of Israel. If Obama were so confident, he wouldn't be so flagrantly neglecting his official duties to feverishly campaign.

Conservatives have never been more motivated. Americans reject Obama's radical liberalism. Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy's Senate seat; Democrats took a "shellacking" in the 2010 congressional races; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker won; a strong majority of Americans still hate Obama's proudest achievement, Obamacare; the tea party is more energized than ever; and grass-roots Americans voted with their bellies for Chick-fil-A.

10) Americans haven't given up on America yet. They recoil at Obama's socialist rantings, redistributionism, class warfare, race baiting, apologies for America, attacks on business and domestic energy producers, and bizarre and offensive statements that "the private sector is fine" and that the death of our ambassador was "a bump in the road."

Reasons that Romney will win the Presidency:

Romney's campaign message is essentially positive; Obama's is overwhelmingly negative. People always prefer promises of something better, but Americans are especially hungry now because times are very tough. Romney is offering concrete and realistic plans to help America grow again and create millions of new jobs. Romney's message and agenda appeal to all Americans, not just certain groups, and tell them they are not imprisoned in their
current economic "station" as Obama would have them believe. Though Obama's promises of "hope and change" in 2008 were vague, at least he presented them as something positive. Today he tells us we must accept an America in decline both internationally and domestically. He insists that 8 percent unemployment is the new normal and that we must adjust to the malaise because it is going to take a long time to make a dent in it.
PLUS:
Obama is appealing to people's baser instincts of envy, greed and fear and has deliberately fanned the flames of racial tension for political gain. This would have been bad enough if he'd not presented himself as a post-partisan, post-racial phenomenon.
PLUS:
Obama had the wind at his back in 2008 after happening on to a perfect financial storm he claimed he had nothing to do with creating. Today our financial outlook is actually much worse; we are much closer to a Greek-style collapse, and Obama has done nothing and proposed no ideas to avert it. It strains credulity to think Americans are gullible enough to swallow his shameless scapegoating of Republicans for problems he exacerbated and is unwilling or too incompetent to address.
PLUS:
Indeed, Obama's record has been horrendous in every category -- economic, debt, national security, military strength, energy dependence, social cohesiveness, religious liberty, race relations, health care and business. America is significantly worse off than it was when Obama took office. It will be extremely difficult for Obama to overcome the reality of his terrible record with his fictional whitewashing of that record.
PLUS:
Similarly, it is hard to believe that the liberal media's gross distortion of events will trump the events themselves. For example, Republicans did not have a terrible convention, and Democrats did not have a wonderful one. Republicans presented a positive message; both Paul Ryan's and Romney's messages were strong and inspiring, and Clint Eastwood's speech mostly resonated. Most Democratic speakers were angry and sniping, and Obama's speech was mostly flat, empty and uninspiring. Bill Clinton's wonkish fantasy speech was the best they could do, but Clinton is not the candidate. It's also unlikely the media succeeded in fooling people into believing that Obama's terrible jobs numbers and foreign policy week from hell were positive or that Romney's relatively innocuous 47 percent video and his proper criticism of Obama's Middle East apologies were terrible negatives.
PLUS:
The avalanche of negativity spewing from the liberal media can be discouraging to conservatives, but the liberal media have steadily lost clout over the past 20 years, and the alternative conservative media have never been more robust. Not only are the liberal media less powerful but also conservative talk show hosts, bloggers, tweeters, columnists and Fox News react with lightning speed to counter every single lie they promulgate.

Bruser, if you're worried now, wait for the debates. Romney is a spoiled brat, and has reached his match.

A blind/deaf idiots response to what had happened. Right after the debate, Ohio has a surge past Obama in likely voters. Get a new TV

President Obama's reelection campaign, rattled by his Wednesday night debate performance, could be in for even worse news. According to knowledgeable sources, a national magazine and a national web site are preparing a blockbuster donor scandal story.
Sources told Secrets that the Obama campaign has been trying to block the story. But a key source said it plans to publish the story Friday or, more likely, Monday.
According to the sources, a taxpayer watchdog group conducted a nine-month investigation into presidential and congressional fundraising and has uncovered thousands of cases of credit card solicitations and donations to Obama and Capitol Hill, allegedly from unsecure accounts, and many from overseas. That might be a violation of federal election laws.
The Obama campaign has received hundreds of millions in small dollar donations, many via credit card donations through their website. On Thursday, the campaign announced a record September donor haul of $150 million.
At the end of the 2008 presidential campaign, the Obama-Biden effort was hit with a similar scandal. At the time, the Washington Post reported that the Obama campaign let donors use "largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how
much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor's identity."
