I am not convinced that it is really in the best interest of US citizens at large, but only the minority control at least...

Would make people lose jobs and many consequences in a time we don't have resources to resolve. The idea is nice, but to fit it into US system the system would have to make major changes.

But you have to keep in mind that Jacksonville is a republican run city with many people working in the insurance industry.. Plus there are the services related to the insurance Industry that make money as well… I had a friend that worked in the blue cross blue shield printing department that was told by his supervisor that if he liked his job he would vote republican … He ended up losing his job anyway because blue cross closed down their printing department and is farming the work out and much of it is going to other states, but some printing is done locally... And this happened before Obama was elected president…..

Yes. However you will squint till-yo-eyes-bleed to find generally better service from the DemoRats.

The current b*stard-child health-care bill is a prime example. Yes I currently DO prefer a single-payer < C2G > system. NO I don't want illegals & HMOs mooching taxpayer money.

Yes I will agree with you on that point, the majority of Republicshits and DemoRats have done NOTHING for the middle class. While both approach, the growth of government in different policies the end result is bigger, BIGger, BIGGER GOVERNMENT plain and simple.

I too prefer the single payer system, that is ME paying the doctor for the services he renders.

First of all this reform is not about the quality of Heatlhcare!

This debate is about who pays for it and has the power.

The Government is hugely involved in the cost of Healthcare now and it is a cluster, so I guess we need even more government to fix what they have already screwed up. Makes perfect sense.

I lived in Jacksonville for over 14 years and relied upon an HMO for my (and my wife's) care. We moved to Canada when my wife became preggy, as we both decided it would be a better place to raise our family for many reasons, health care not among them at the time.

As American's we were so used to the "list" - which hospitals, general practitioners, and specialists we were allowed to visit. We were used to co-payments, and refusals for certain treatments - such as the removal of a cyst I had behind my ear that was considered cosmetic. They wanted $475, but I was too busy as the time to have the procedure done.

So we get to Canada. I expected an even more restricted "list", but there wasn't any! In fact, I could shop for any family doctor I wanted, even out of city. As I was a new arrival, I went to a walk-in clinic a walk from our house. After 1/2 hour of waiting, the doctor had looked at my cyst and arranged an appointment within a week with a dermatologist to remove it. He called about 8 of them, to find the one that would take me soonest. It took less than an hour, was painless, and didn't cost me a dime. And that was only my first experience.

Then our 2 kids were born, and I must say that the experience has been great here. I was amazed at the choice, as I could even drive to another city and have another round of diagnostics done for a second, or even third opinion - all without a co-payment of any kind.

But I still say, American health care is the best if you're rich enough to afford not to have insurance.

All most of us want is the same plan our kings and queens in Congress have. If they can have it, why can't we?

For the very same reasons that some roads are dirt and some are super highways. Money and power.

I would prefer a single payer health plan that would completely take the insurance company greed out of our medical system. The President is at least trying to do something about the health care crisis in this country. A free market approach has failed and increasing numbers of families are going without basic health coverage.
