health care should not be government run...our government has already made a mess of other programs, and this will become yet another entitlement for the irresponsible.

Obama's choice, Dr. Donald Berwick, chosen to be director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has expressed his disdain for free-market medicine and his “love” for Great Britain’s government-run health-care system, while advocating health-care rationing and using the health-care system to redistribute wealth. You hear that, folks? Rationing...you still feel good about this garbage?

Country can't afford to spend this kind of money. Deadbeats need to get jobs and pay taxes like the rest of us. Stop the free handouts.

Some people are able-bodied yet refuse to ever pull themselves up by their bootstraps to make a living to take care of themselves and their far too many offspring. Almost 1/2 of this country is living on some form of entitlements....that's sick.

Yea, like your parents social security, there medicare. Of course since you don't like government run anything why don't you pay for mom and dads support and healthcare? That will work for me. Oh yea, when this new health care system starts up in 2014, don't get it, when you get sick pull out that check book! You are truly clueless and just repeating what you here from other republicans. My guess is mom and dad were republicans, and your one. Hum, maybe it is a hereditary trait!

Wished it had a public option or was a single payer, because I am taking care of a man with cancer who was fired from his job 7 weeks after he was told he had this deadly disease, which put him on cobra at $1000,00 a month and very high out of pocket fees over a year ago. This is not a perfect health care bill but it is a start. If you knew what I know you would be not only in support of the health care system in 2014 but you would be crying for it to start much sooner. I had considered moving to Canada 4 years ago and I wished I had of. Instead I moved to Mississippi which is a state I will tell everyone to stay out of! Your talking to some one that has lived across the U.S from coast to coast and has lived in many states in-between.

He/she probably uses roadways, schools, parks and EMS also; all of them are ran by the government. All this greatest country in the world stuff, so the greatest government too.

The health care bill will be an improvement from what it is now. At least people won't have to die, everyone will pay there fair share (Like Canada, it should have been non profit), pre-existing condition will be eliminated,85% of your premiums will go to actual health care instead of to the CEO's in the health care industry,They can't throw you off your health care if you get sick, If you make less then $80,000 your premiums will be reduced, if your claim is denied there will be a non-partial place to investigate why it was denied. You will have a certain level of insurance that guarantees that you won't go bankrupt (Something that I don't have at this time- I have to pay $7,500 before I can even use my insurance and it pays 70/30, with a $1000.00 month premium. Cancer is treated much longer then the 18 months that cobra provides, which because of being fired after 7 weeks of finding out about the cancer we look at no insurance and medical bankruptcy, after the 18 months. There is well care for people at no charge and you won't be stuck with an insurance company you don't like just because that is all they have in your state. For example, Mississippi is mostly Blue Cross, I will be able to get insurance in Washington if I so choose and it doesn't have to be B.C.B.S. So there is lots of good things in this Health care bill, and guess what congress will be included in the same bill me and you are in. It stops the rich from getting any better benefits than the rest of us. IT'S WAY OVER DUE AND A GOOD THING FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Please don't believe all the government propaganda. The health care bill has nothing to do with helping people! It has everything to do with power and control. Pam, please name one service or business the government runs efficiently? Do you honestly think bcbs or any health insurance will continue to operate if they can't make a profit? Do you think a smart bright minded student will study for 12 years to become a doctor if he/she can make just as much money driving a truck.

The truth is you even know better, Pam. P

The truth is you even know better, Pam. The only reason for your approval is it temporarily helps you out at the expense of throwing the rest of us under the government bus! What chance of survival do you think someone in Canada or Britain would have?

Social security has taken care of many of elderly folks and no they aren't in the whole. If it wasn't for social security many of us would be supporting our parents. The military has kept us safe, for the most part. Of course that depends on who is in charge in the white house. Veterans over the years have gotten decent health care. Medicare has taken care of many people and will becoming stronger financially in this health care bill. Grandpa would not have gotten his medicines and illness's taken care of if it wasn't for medicare. You have to have a strong health care system, good education that will bring people out of poverty, and a strong military to keep us safe. Yes, this is something that private industry can't provide in an appropriate way, because of greed. To many CEO's get paid to much money. There is to much theft by corporations, banks, fat cats. There are certain things government does well. If you want a strong American you need certain regulations, so as to benefit every one of us. Not just the wealthy in the country. We don't need a 2 class society, rich/poor. American is for everyone and everyone should have the opportunity to move forward. Also wanted to mention that I lived in Canada some 10 years ago and Canada is non profit. It is superior to what America has and I can tell you the truth about it.

If the VA is your idea of good health care you prove my point. Of course moving from Canada I would imagine it feel like a step in the right direction. If your idea of good health care is waiting all day to see a doctor only to be told to come back next week because he didn't have time to work you in. Then when he does, they give you the wrong meds. If you need an operation you have to wait six months. Folks this is how health care works at the VA. I went through this with my grandfathers.

And for your information America has many more classes than rich/poor. Although the middle class shrinks with every government program.

As for social security do you really think it runs efficiently? Social security will NOT even be around in 20 years. I am not sure what business you are in, but no business can spend more money than it makes!

And finally if you are such a fan of Canada please take your brainwashed ideology back there. Let them tell you how well they are going to take care of you. The rest of us taxpayers would appreciate it.

You present good arguments. To bad none of them are valid. My dad used the V.A and never had to pay for a drug. He had a heart operations with the best doctors. As for the waiting time, I have waited on private doctor for hours on end then getting a nice fat bill at home. Let me give you the scoop on the Canada health care system. It is non profit. Nobody gets a bill. If you want to upgrade your insurance you can buy private insurance, how ever very few people do because most people are content with the insurance. Canada's taxes are less then 1% higher then ours and that tax also includes higher education for it's people. You talk about waiting to see a doctor in Canada but the truth is people with serious injury's or illnesses don't wait at all. If you go to the emergency room with a sore throat, yes you might have to wait. Nobody in Canada files bankruptcy, pays a high premium, or dies because they don't get medical care. Yes, Canada has one up on the U.S... No, America at this time in history pretty much has the rich and the poor. The people you call the middle class use to work 2 to 3 jobs to provide for there family. Now they are earning poverty wages if they are working and many of those people you refer to as middle class are now on food stamps with a record of a hundred and forty million in the country. The rich have made tons of money because of the Bush administration policy's. Tax cuts, de-regulation and so on. Social security will be around for many years to come. Nobody that is eligible at this time has ever missed a check. I have lived in many states across the country and know how Americans that have never been any where don't know any better. The UK also is much more progressive. Some of America states are better then others. Don't get mad because you show your stupidity. Just take it for what it is worth to you and move on from there. Sorry to insult you!
