There will be no reform in healthcare. It is too big and powerful and lets face it, those that are getting rich off the rewards will never allow anyone to tamper with their cash flow. I do not have insurance. I have to live carefully. I cannot afford the luxury of horseback riding, or riding a harley, or boating, or most all of the fun exciting things in life. And when I get ill, I just have to hang on and use grandmas old remedies. I am one disaster away from total loss of everything I have worked so hard to have. For me, if they would have a reasonal charge for services, rather than 5 bucks for a box of tissue and 6 bucks for a plain asprin, not the mention the thousands for an MRI, I might be able to swing some care for myself. Other than that I am screwed. You know Canada is looking sweet.

1 But we will,that's the point.Let's say you're the breadwinner for your family. Do you go to the ER (most expensive) for a catastrophic illness? Do family and friends go broke paying or lose a father,mother, child? And then who pays? "Taxpayers includes friends, family, and loved-ones. The government (that's US remember) would run programs better if we worked together.Talk about socialism- who controls the means of production AND runs this country? Business! |

well, thinkagain, you obiously dont have any concerns for you or your family and the healthcare systen. Good for you. Happy that you dont have to make any of the tough decisions that cripple most of us in the states. Now, if the healthcare system would get out of bed with insurance companies and political supporters, then we might be able to revise some of the high overhead costs that are designed to make billions for a few. Think of the benefits for the rest of us. Savy protocals instead of ordering every test on the books and some twice, just to make sure that everyone who owns equiptment, gets a piece of the action. There are conscientious doctors walking away from medicine. The career they loved enough to sacrafice long hours and thousands of dollars to achieve, because they know the system doesnt work right and they refuse to follow the obsessive demands for unnecessary tests because they are available and on the protocals. Tip of the ice berg. The list goes on. But, Oh we forgot. We need to pad the pockets of all involved in setting up healthcare protocals. Doesnt matter if the MRI machine pays for itself in say a week. Lets keep the prices up high and stash the cash. Wouldnt it be sensible to reduce the rates for those of us that dont have insurance, rather than raising it higher? Thats such a crock. A private pay is higher than the insurance companies get charged. So in a sense, you taxpayers are just picking up the slack on a sliding scale. All works out in the end, so stop crying. BTW, I do not, get any assistance with living and dont plan on it, unless of course there is a disaster in my life, and then I will let the slush fund pick that up. You know that extra bunch of money that gets set aside through high premiums and over charges? Better me, than a new condo for some jacka$$ that gouges the system..

Why don't they allow insurance companies to compete across state lines? That would lower the cost of health insurance. But I guess that wouldn't bring Socialism on the Americans would it?

Let's see how many of the negative responses can actually say: Gee I've actually priced and tried to buy private medical insurance this year.
If you haven't may I suggest you price it. Here's an example of the Glenn Beck / Rush Limbaugh zombie followers remarks: "gee isn't it only about 150.00 a month for medical insurance?" By my 28 year old Republican co-worker. BWAAA HAAA...Last time I priced it in the private insurance sucking sector? 1200.00 a month. Would I like the opportunity to have an open market ? you bet, would I like the opportunity to have the option of a public option, you bet! But since you negative nellies insist this will bankrupt the country, then I'll just keep going to the emergency room at the hospital and let you the insured continue to pay my bill. How? why the uninsured add thousands to your bills. Please review just how much your retirement (SS 401K etc) will go towards medical costs in the next 20 years..regardless if you are on Medicare or not. The figure is outstanding. PFFFFTTTT...educate yourself first about the insurance rip offs. Ask yourself why the insurance and drug companies are pissing in their pants right now, ask them about their lobbyists. |

Support it , for people like me who have no healthcare benefits due to working as a Independent Contractor for a healthcare agency, this will help me and my family

Sorry Sara,
But you're the kind of rabid, McCarthyistic headcase that gives America a bad name. Keep pedalling your fascist mantra and pray you never get trully sick... I'd prefer to believe in an America that looks after its own. |
||||
|
I've worked in the health care industry more than 10 years and can tell you that it is best for all Americans to support this important effort.

maybe if families got their priorities straight and put health insurance ahead of cable tv, cell phones, ipods, new cars, etc...we wouldn't be in this situation today. My government is not here to provide my health care but rather to secure our borders and protect our freedoms not take them away.
|
||||
My spouse is 50 and I just bought her a policy for 200.00 a month. It does have a higher deductible but won't break us if she gets sick. It is pretty good coverage for that price. |

The government can't run the USPS, welfare programs, or anything else responsibly or fiscally. Where does anyone get the idea they can run healthcare?!
