I oppose the government taking over health care. I am in favor of changes being made to the existing system, but Obama's plan is too expensive and will do nothing to actually reduce costs.

It's too bad seeing how important this issue is to conservatives that they did nothing to pressure their administration to begin the changes they wished to see while their party held office for eight years. Glad we finally have a President with the smarts to initiate changes instead of just waiting for everything to collapse all around us like Bush did with the economy.

"If you think Healthcare is expensive now, just wait until it is free." Watch what you wish for! From someone who owns their own business and pays for employee healthcare under the new bill it is cheaper for me to pay the so called penalty for not providing insuance then for me to pay for the insurance. Yeah good plan?!?!?

I know alot of people with no health insurance right now, it is too expensive. My costs tripled this year with new copays, higher deductibles and higher monthly contributions. Something has to be done. We have already waited too long to take action.

Even though changes do need to be made, what Obama is proposing is NOT a solution. It is just a power grab by the government that will only increase costs and lead to worse, not better care for people in our country.

Like I said, it's too bad the conservatives sat around and did nothing while they had control of the Whitehouse, that would have been the time to make your move. You guys are a day late and a dollar short, everyone knew this had to be fixed but Bush did NOTHING even though everyone was saying something had to be done. Now you have to follow the leader because health care reform will not wait any longer.

That is not true. Nobody has to accept a bad plan just because what the previous administration did or didn't do. That is such a weak argument that I am so sick of hearing from people. I agree changes need to be made, but I DO NOT have to agree with any leader, plan, Congress, president, or whoever if I think they are putting forth a BAD plan.

What gets me is that Obama keeps saying he is going to pay the $800 billion (yeah like that figure is going to be right) for his plan and the public option with all these savings from fixing problems with Medicare & Medicaid. So why not just fix those problems first and see what kind of savings you really end up with instead of just looking at projections and spending the money right away. It isn't like he has a great track record so far on making accurate projections.

You don't have to agree with anything. You can heckle, scream and throw tea parties till the cows come home. We elected a President who promised healthcare reform and it is going to happen whether you like it or not. again, it's too bad you guys didn't say more when you had a Republican in the whitehouse if this issue was so important to you.

The thing you guys miss repeatedly is that when Bush was in office, there were still people heckling and screaming. Did you scream for healthcare then? If so it apparently wasn't loud enough for the "main stream media" to bother to cover. There have been issues with insurance companies, Pharma, the FDA and so on for years, however most of it goes back to the corrupt politicians and their campaign donations. If you track who gets most of that you might find the root of the problem. Start there and work back. Then maybe we can ALL work together on reforming healthcare!

You have a hard time accepting that not everyone wants the same kind of changes you do. I wasn't asking for government run health care reform under Bush because I don't want government run health care. Not because of party affiliation, or racism, an any of the other such nonsensical banter the left is throwing out there right now about opponents to their plan.

Please READ and understand the full text before rash opining. This is one person's idea. I'm sure the collective mind can improve on the particulars.

Illegal immigration is ILLEGAL.

That makes undocumented immigrants criminal suspects. Personal views of the justice or in-justice of that fact are irrelevant. Lax enforcement does not abrogate the law. Social attempts at re-classifying these criminal suspects as "unapproved immigrants" are anathemas.

As legal citizens we have only the rights afforded us by the rule of law. Disrespect it, and we forfeit them. How then can one possibly justify any less from an immigrant of any genre? How can anyone reasonably expect to be allowed to live in this land and rape [sic] its benefits without respect for its laws, customs, and traditions?

The Latino community has contributed much to the culture and heritage of the American people. This is especially so in the Southwest. They are a strongly family-centric and fiercely proud segment of society today as always. A large percentage of them are here legally and do love and respect this country. They contribute to our great Nation and we are grateful to have them.

However, America has allowed herself be raped by too many for too long. It is wholly unacceptable to have persons living inside our borders as second class "citizens", hiding from the law in plain sight, working illegally, collectively siphoning millions of dollars out of the country each month all the while ignoring tax laws and thumbing their noses at the government that provides the very freedoms they came here to enjoy. Worse yet are those who adopt an 'Entitlement Mentality' giving our legal citizens 'attitude' regarding their 'rights'(which in truth are all but non-existent ) and act as though the U.S. government somehow owes them something.

America is not immune to, and therefore cannot continue to ignore the cancerous and festering boils that infect her. It is time for "We the People" to cry out and demand a different type of National Health Care; one that makes sense in our campaign to save what’s left of the greatest Nation on earth.

This government must not continue blindly on, rewarding these criminal activities and expecting that it is somehow acceptable to the American people who ultimately shoulder the burden. It is time for both sides to step up and take responsibility to make a change.

Illegal immigration is the single greatest threat we face to the health, well-being and future of this country today.

The illegal immigration that has been allowed to occur amounts to a slow, largely ignored invasion by a force that has no real intentions to assimilate but rather to move the border North or South on an issue by issue basis as will best serve its agenda.

The following is the 'short version' proposal to Congress to create an Amnesty Program aimed at resolving the dilemma, increasing revenues to help balance the budget and re-taking control of our borders.

1. Offer amnesty to non-felons who file a request detailing lists of all employers past an present, S/N numbers used, etc.

2. Claimants must file tax returns and arrange to pay backtaxes and penalities in full.

3. Claimants must demonstrate English proficiency, written and oral.

4. Claimants must take and pass a 'civics' class.

5. offer citizenship to those that meet all requirements.

6. Deport everyone else at the expense of the receiving government.

If you agree, write Congress. If you can improve on this idea, write Congress!

America's health care problems stem from unchecked, unregulated insurance and pharmacutical companies and healthcare providers. America's problem is greed at the top be it on Wallstreet or the CEO's of HMO's. Stop scapegoating. Your "socialist" cries reek of MCcarthism and your attack on ethnic groups is a throw back to concentration camps. You need to get real.

Pick a user name and stick with it. America's problem is corruption in Washington with rampant cronyism and spending my tax dollars on foolishness. I guess you don't pay taxes.

I'm sorry you didn't (weren't able?) too understand my post as I requested. The "unchecked, unregulated insurance and pharmacutical companies and healthcare providers" are certainly one of the cancerous boils to which I refer as are ignorance, expectations of life-time governmental hand-outs and plain old fashsioned greed. I re-read my post because I couldn't remember using any variant of the word "socialism" and I was gratified to see that those nasty conspiratorial web police hadn't changed it (yet ... LOL).

As for "attacks on ethinic groups"? Are YOU serious? No ethinic groups have been attacked. Law breakers are not an ethinic group (unless you are stereo-typifying. Are you?) Are you next going to claim I'm a racist because I'm against government control of health care and my life? I hope you're more reasonable than that.

Lastly, there is a difference between "attack" and "defense". The immigrant problem I address has a very real potential of ultimately eliminating the American way of life. Take the time to read a book or two about Rome circa 500 AD. Then we'll see who's real.

Ain't it GREAT to be an American?

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Virgo

You aren't fooling anyone - it's easy for everyone else to see that inexperienced people are unaware of their obligations, Virgo. You're grumpy about starting a familiar process from the beginning again, but don't let that get in the way of getting on with it. Sour grapes have no place in your daily dealings. Although you may 'own' a project, it's ultimately in the hands of someone else. Deal with it and then move on.
