Before I respond to this....2 thingsTo DaninBranson:
Big Phrama wants you.
Consider the following: About 72% of prescription drugs dispensed in this country are for generic medicines, but name-brand drugs account for 80 percent of prescription costs.
Another report, this one by the Government Accountability Office, shows that prescription----specifically for brand-name drugs---are soaring. Between 2000 and 2008, the prices of 416 branded drugs increased by more than 100 percent. While most increases ranged fromm 100 to 499 percent, reported The New York Times, some prices rose more than 1,000 percent, with the largest increase at 4,200 percent.
A couple of recent reports have shown that name-brand drug costs have risen dramatically and that major companies are making more deals with generic-drug manufacturers to keep their cheap products off the market--a practice known as "pay-for-delay."
The unconscionable gouging of consumers by Big Phrama, as the giant pharmaceutical industry continues it's crony Capitalism.
Why are the Republicans allowing Big Phrama to set exorbitant prices for lifesaving drugs and blocking affordable generic alternatives.
Obama spoke of the need to regulate these actions, but the Republicans refuse to listen.
What's up with the Republicans confusing crony capitalism with the free market. Don't they know the difference.
Where did you get your information for the figures from? I would like to investigate this myself before replying.
Where are these reports? I would like to read them.
