Healthcare is not an unalienable right. The federal government has no business making legislation here. The problem with our current system is that the government already has too many laws governing it. Simply get out.

More health care law means more incompetent doctors who get to keep doing their jobs. Interestingly, studies conducted to determine how much death rates increased during doctor strikes determined that they dropped. Americans need MORE ability to distinguish between the good and the bad doctors, not less.

The concept of "free healthcare" is great, but the execution would be impossible. Competition is needed to further medical advancements and for incentives to keep people alive.

I think providing free Healthcare is probably doable in theory, but not on a government-mandated scale; I wonder how well a free hospital supported by sponsors would work? Likely not very, but it's conceivable.

The point about competition is an interesting one - that had never occurred to me.

Also, don't forget that "free" means "paid for with taxes" when the government says it.

You're right! Free= paid by taxpayers!

Maybe a compromise could be reached..."free" healthcare for children. I wouldn't mind paying taxes for that benefit.
