He saw first-hand how the system treated his mother while she was battling cancer.

If you want insurance, get off your tush and work. Yes, you heard me, you will actually have to work :-O You will accomplish something. You will have a life. You will meet people. You will get off the couch and get exercise. You will have REAL money rolling in. Just try it!

Not quite so simple. At age 62, the housing slump took out my business. 18 months later I still don't have another job. Luckily, I was able to get deceased ex's social security and I don't have to live in a box, but I certainly can't afford medical insurance.

While there are many details to be worked out, I generally support the attempt to change the way the health care system presently works. Tops on my list are: portability of health insurance so people can move out of state or change jobs while retaining their coverage, interstate sales of policies to stimulate competition, no pre-existing condition exclusion or premium increase, and near universal coverage with all who can afford it required to buy insurance.

What happens if you lose your job or want to change and have some pre-existing condition? Healthcare needs to be separate from your job.

I'm sorry I disagree with in a way. Yes people need to get jobs, need to get their own helath care. But what about those people who have a health problem ... you know just as well as I do that no healthcare will take them. For me it is even harder. I am a military brat ... my fathers in the navy(FYI) so I get medical till I'm 21 ... but I was bon with many health problems and they will kill me if not watched. Try having a heart problem ... where the doctor doesnt want to fix it till your 25 but you get off your dads page two when your 21. Its hard being a navy brat and having to find healthcare after the government takes it away from you.

I am half and half. It gives peple who cant afford it a chance at living better, and also gives the people healthcare providers said no to a chance to actually have a fighting chance at life.

But what I dont like is that you know they will cut corners, not do some tests just because it money down the drain... a greedy act in my mind. I mean you kno wthey cut corners in everything else.

Run as fast as you can from gov't run programs. Look at what the gov't has done to the 2nd Ammendment. It is OK to carry in this place, but not legal to carry in NY City, Chicago or lots of other places. Look how they have bankrupted SS, Medicare, and Medicade.

A smaller gov't coupled with drastic spending cuts are the only way to save America, and big spending on a health care system we don't need is a bad, bad, move. Democrats support it because they want something for nothing from the working people.

There are better ways to ensure proper Health Care for Americans without overhauling the system and costing trillions of dollars.

Being half and half (as you call it) doesn't prevent you from having proper health care. There are more effective ways to ensure proper health care without a overhaul that cost trillions of dollars to the working people.
They need to make sure their current programs like Medicare (for seniors) isn't running out of money- leaving seniors without before they worry about creating other problem programs.

Medicaid, Medicare, and VA health care have all been poorly run with a high percentage of waste and fraud.
